Introduction

I found this picture in The Enchanted Booklet on Facebook here:

It would not let me link to the image on their page.

I saw a love story there.

The music is "The Selkie" by Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter

She Shed Her Skin

For weeks, he had seen her while fishing. Was she a mermaid, or a selkie, or something else? He did not know.

She was the last thing he thought of at night before he drifted into the realms of Morpheus, and she was on his mind when he woke each morning and prepared his boat for the day's fishing.

He called to her and told her how beautiful she was. She was always in the water near his boat, but always just out of reach.

Sometimes he sat in his boat on the beach, and one day she walked up to him, shedding he skin, she was a selkie. No words passed between them; they were in love.

They held each other and kissed for a perfect eternity, then she turned, slipped into her skin, and back into the sea.

There was no one else for him; he had his Selkie love, and she had her fisherman lover.

This was the first time, but they both knew they were now soulmates and would be together forever, even when far apart.

I love a good selkie tale, and it’s nice that this one doesn’t involve the fisherman stealing her skin to control her. Nicely done.
