After Dexter and Bubbles finished their breakfast they headed

outside for a walk to the library. It was hot outside, but it didn't bother

Bubbles who was in her usual blue dress. It did however feel strange

for her to walk somewhere when she was so used to flying. Dexter

still wore his clean cut lab coat, but didn't seem hot in the slightest.

Both didn't say much since they were unfamiliar with the other's

interests. Standing at the door of the library, leaning against the

building was a familiar green face to Bubble's displeasure. It was

Ace from the Gangreen Gang.

"Hey four eyes, you got your entrance fee?" Ace called out pointing

at Dexter as they neared the door.

"You know the library is free Ace. Please get out of the way before |

have to use force." Bubbles said firmly, but politely.

"No, | think I'll stay right here... unless you'd rather ditch the nerd

here and share a milkshake with me." Ace said as he tilted his

sunglasses winking at Bubbles which made Dexter frown. Bubbles

however looked as if she wanted to throw up.

"I think you should just chill out man." Dexter said taking out a bright

orange and blue ray gun zapping him still as he became trapped in a

transparent green block.

"Umm... you didn't kill him did you?" Bubbles said as her eyes went

to the size of dinner plates.

"No, just froze him temporarily in time. He'll be fine after a few

hours." Dexter said pushing him aside so they could go in.

"Wow... then you must be as smart as my dad!" Bubbles exclaimed

grinning.

"Heh, | don't know about that." Dexter laughed as they went in and

began casually strolling down a shelf a books.

Bubbles seemed to be interested in the herbal remedy books while

Dexter picked up quite a few chemistry books. It wasn't long before

they were both quietly reading at a table in the center of the library.

Bubbles couldn't shake the strange feeling they were being watched,

but who would be watching them in a library? She dismissed the

feeling and went back to her book of herbal remedies coming across

a particular page on garlic that caught her eye. It had been ages

since Bubbles had come to the library. She was so busy being

popular now she didn't take the time aside for such simple a

pleasure as reading a book in a library... and yet now here she was

with her new neighbor. Blossom came in soon enough and looked

over to see Dexter and Bubbles sitting together.

"Oh wow, fancy seeing you two here." Blossom said as she returned

a few books and came over to them.

Dexter didn't look up to see who it was, but he did have a nervous

look on his face which caught Bubble's attention.

"Hey sis, what's up?" Bubbles said quietly gently placing her book on

the table.

"Oh not much. Find anything interesting?" Blossom said as Dexter

continued hiding his face.

"Yeah, I'm reading it right now. | think Dexter's mom wanted him

back by noon though so we should really be checking out." Bubbles

said nervously.

"Ah, alright well I'll catch up to you two later then. See ya." Blossom

said as she went to hit the books herself.

After they checked out Bubbles and Dexter walked back to their

houses to drop off their books.

"SO... any reason you were sweating bullets back in the library?"

Bubbles said curiously.

"Well yeah, your sister... was kind of my study buddy years ago."

Dexter said nervous again as he tugged at his collar a bit.

"How were you two study buddies if you just moved here?" Bubbles

asked raising an eye brow.

"Well... | did live here before. | went to pokey oaks kindergarten. Not

many people knew me seeing as | mostly kept to myself and my

books." Dexter explained.

"Hmm..." Bubbles started remembering a red headed glasses

wearing boy in her kindergarten class taking a nap. "... Oh wow... So

you were in our class!" Bubbles said out loud.

"Heh, yep. So what else is new?" Dexter said as they sat on

Bubble's front porch.

"Miss Keane is now a high school math teacher." Bubbles said sitting

on a swinging bench the professor hung from a tree.

"Wow really? Then | guess we'll both be learning from her again."

Dexter said grinning.

"| wish | were better with math." Bubbles said sheepishly.

"Aww, well we can go over to my place right now and | can show you

some things that | think will help you." Dexter said getting up and

holding out his hand to her.

Blushing brightly and blinking at his hand she took it, but all the while

that feeling they were being watched just wouldn't leave her alone.

Neither of them saw the pair of glasses staring at them through the

rose bushes as they headed off to a fun afternoon of studying.
