Wednesday 7th May, Day #25, Story #25 - a Drabble. Not to be confused with the TV programme
Children have a rangy, wired look about them. They eat junk, but they never get enough sleep, so it balances out. Sort of.
Caffeine is romanticised to a hellish degree. People used to joke they couldn't live without it. Now, large triple-strength espressos are handed to pre-schoolers, no matter what time of day or night they arrive for classes. Nobody laughs.
This is the 24hr world. Nothing ever closes. Even when you're not at work, you are expected to be reachable, and available at a moment's notice.
Some dream about the lost concept of "night-time", and wonder where it went.

Well, that was short. Kind of like my sleep lately
Oh my, this would literally be a nightmare! Loved your story!
Hehe! Nice mini satire. Feels only too close to home!
Gosh I don’t think we’re too far off this - One of the states over here has said it’s okay for children to work an overnight shift before school the next day?!? Thought this was fab.
I love it, feels like many people in the world are headed that way. Good reminder to actually rest. Great, vivid painting with such limited words.
My wife is very deliberate about when she has her phone with her & when she doesn't as well as when it's on or off. Oddly enough, she still expects to be able to reach me 24/7.
