It's five o'clock in the morning!
And you want to go out?
Seriously?
It's snowing outside and minus two degrees, it is warm in here, just lie down and go back to sleep. If you are hungry there is kibble in your dish and there is water in your bowl, I'm going back to sleep.
The cat went to the patio door and mewled, then it came back, jumped on my bed and me, howled and pawed at my sheets, trying to pull them off me.
I pulled them back up, the cat pawed them back down.
The cat wasn't going to stop until it got its way.
Slowly but surely it wore down my resolve, and after twenty minutes I threw the covers off and pulled on my woolly nightgown, I wasn't going to freeze when I opened that door.
We walked to the door side by side. I put the key in, unlocked it, opened it and got hit by the icy blast as the heat of the room rushed out into the darkness and snow, along with the cat.
I shut the door immediately and looked at the cat, who realised that it was very cold out there.
Within twenty seconds there was a circle of cat tracks in the snow, and a cat howling at the patio door.
I opened the door and the cat and I were back in the warm.
Back in bed, Cat asleep, warmer and more comfortable here than in the snow.

I admire your love for cats Mike - and you represent the cat-itude so perfectly in this! Well done!
At 2 below Celsius our cats that were indoor/outdoor would have been out for hours, lol. At 2 below Fahrenheit, maybe not quite so long (though often they'd simply bed with the dog in his doghouse).
Lol, this reminded me of Abigail and Cathy! Loved your story!
I was picturing you as the main character until I read "wooliy nightgown" and pictured a woman.
Oh what a sweet story!!
This is my kind of cosy. Really sweet and simple piece. Thanks
great sharing!
I like the simple and fun nature of this piece. My entries have been dark lol. So this was a nice refreshing bit of just slice of life stuff. Well done, Mike, packed it and made the 250 words work really well!
Lol, sometimes they have to learn for themselves. Fun piece!
