Bethan

I've had a text from Dave! Weird. He wants to meet. I'm "working" from home because, well, I couldn't think before meeting with Luke tonight, knew I'd get nothing done. I'm going through what he might tell me in my head and my focus is skewed. Nothing else seems relevant.

And now, Dave? Something's changed, then, if he wants to meet with me. And what I'm asking myself is Should I be concerned? He made it plain that he didn't want to talk to me. People reflect, I know, but it seems timely after all the stuff with Katie. Should I tell her that he's reached out to me? I think I should.

But firstly, should I meet him? Today of all days! I'm just getting my head around Luke. I don't think I can do both. I'm going to tell Dave "No".

Dave

Bethan says that she can't meet. Fine. No, it's not fine! I feel like things are escalating and I don't like being in the dark. I don't want it on my doorstep, this angst! I want things as they were: Katie and Christine and me and none of this.

Today. She needs to meet me today. What's the hook that will grab her? Laney, of course. I want to talk about Laney.

Bethan

Dave's texted: It's about Laney.

I reply: What do you mean?

Dave replies: Too much to text. Need to meet.

I reply: But what about Laney? New info? What?

Dave replies: Let's meet today and I'll tell you.

And now I have a conundrum. I don't know what to do. Dave reaching out is strange but if he does have information about Laney, it's right that he'd want to share it, isn't it? I could ask him about the camera, I suppose, but then that's dropping Katie in it and I don't know if I could do that, or whether I should?

And Luke? I want to meet with him too, with all my being. I feel like that, more than meeting Dave, will provide me with answers. Call it instinct, call it a hunch, whatever.

Dave texts again: Meet me. Mill Lane Woods. 12pm.

What to do?

Dear heavens, take it as a bad sign that he wants to meet in the woods. Don’t rationalize it with, maybe he doesn’t want his wife to see. Don’t think he’d so very suddenly have a change of heart. See it for what it is: a threat.

  • Don't go!

Nail biting stuff.....I hope Bethan is packing.....

I don’t envy Bethan’s options, but I hope she is sensible and intuitive enough to meet with Luke first.

Wow! That Dave is a piece of work! Don’t meet him Bethan!

Hell no! Meet me in the woods.... Is that a shovel? So much no, Bethan.

Rachel, I'm still going to keep following because you have me hooked, but I don't have much to add in the comments so I'll just leave likes for awhile. Please don't take it personal, I just know when to shut up.

It seems Bethan trusts Luke more than she trusts Dave. However, I don't recall there being a reason that she should be afraid of Dave. I mean, he's a selfish prick, but I don't think he was violent to her? With that said, I'd probably go ahead and meet up with him.

  • Yes… nasty, conniving Dave! Please don’t get conned Bethan!😳

  • I hope Bethan follows her instincts and goes to meet Luke first
