She could hear a solitary drop of water as it met the edge of the sink. Over and over and over it dripped until she could not stand it anymore. Alexis winced as she opened her eyes just enough to look around the cramped room she was in. Blinking a few times, everything began to flood her brain as she remembered what had happened and the dire situation she now found herself in.
Thinking back to decisions that had led to this point and wondering if she had just gone home with everyone else she might be home safe right now. Footsteps could be heard on the floorboards above her. Alexis knew she was running out of time as she continued to work at the rope that held her wrists together, a loud crash could be heard as a door opened shining light into the darkness around her.
When her captor finally came into view she knew her situation was worse than she originally imagined. Alexis had watched enough horror movies to know that if the bad guy revealed their face they usually had no intentions of letting their victim go. Slowly her eyes adjusted to the change of light and the face of her abductor came into view. Alexis was shocked to see that the person in front of her was female, and not just any female.
Alexis recognized Angela Devoe from the countless news headlines. Angela was not a woman that you wanted to know. Her family had run the drug syndicate in orange county for years until recently when the loss of her father had caused a dramatic switch of reins. Angela had the challenge of not only running and managing her family’s empire but also proving to the competition that she was not just any woman, she was a Devoe. Her family had rivaled with the Creed family for years prior to her father’s death.
Alexis knew when she saw who had taken her that this was going to be a challenge and that her only chance was to get Angela to let her guard down. Her only hope being that she could prove to this woman she had no allegiance to her family and their criminal ways. Standing before her with an evil smile that showed off her beautiful teeth.
Alexis noticed that her hair that was once brown now hung blonde around her shoulders. Her piercing blue eyes stared down onto Alexis; the tape ripped from her mouth caused Alexis to let out a whimper. “What do you want with me” She said gasping to catch her breath. “You are the weapon that will end this war” the hatred evident in her voice as she spoke. “How can I help you accomplish anything? my family has not spoken to me in years. Not since I refused my heir to the family business.” Alexis refused to lose everything she had set to accomplish because of a war she was never a part of. Briefly Alexis could have sworn she saw confusion or even surprise on her abductors face even but only for a moment. Before she could speak Angela had replaced the tape and was making her way back up to the world that she may never see again. How long would she be here, would they kill her? Surely they were not going to let her go. Hours passed as she sat and rocked back and forth in the chair, attempting to loosen the tight bindings holding her, with no success Alexis found herself drifting off as she began to lose track of the hours.
