CHARACTERS
THOMAS 22-years-old
HARPER 21-years-old
THOMAS
I don’t know if I can do this.
HARPER
I think you can.
THOMAS
I’m going to look like a fool in front of everyone.
HARPER
No, you’re not. You’ll be fine.
THOMAS
I feel faint.
HARPER
Bro, you’re being a wuss.
THOMAS
Then you go out there and do it.
HARPER
You are supposed to go before me.
THOMAS
But the mic is all wrong.
HARPER
Are you serious?
THOMAS
Yes, I am. I can sing, All of Me, perfectly with the blue microphone and only the blue microphone.
HARPER
Thomas. Does it really matter what color the microphone is for you to sing?
THOMAS
Harper, you know me. This isn’t the strangest thing I’ve done.
HARPER
Right, how can I forget you eating 10-day old pizza.
THOMAS
That was one time and I was super drunk.
HARPER
Or the time you thought it would be cool to belly flop onto 15 inches worth of snow.
THOMAS
I never back down from a dare.
HARPER
And the time you sold mother’s jewelry for a hot dog.
THOMAS
That was a good hot dog.
HARPER
My point is, you don’t have to have everything go your way. You can’t control everything. Red microphone, blue microphone, purple microphone, green microphone whatever.
THOMAS
You’re right, sis. I’m going to give them the best rendition of, All of Me they ever heard!
[THOMAS Runs to stage and grabs the red microphone with confidence. He starts to sing, and the opening note was off-key. As the song progress, it gets worse and worse. He is then boo’d of stage.]
HARPER
Hey, there, tiger. How do you feel?
THOMAS
They hated me.
HARPER
Well, that’s the thing you can’t control. Other people’s emotions or intentions. I’m on next. Wish me luck!
THOMAS
Good luck, sis. You’ll do great.
[HARPER gets ready to go on next. As she does, she pulls out a red microphone from her pocket. She starts to sing, and the audience loves her.]
THOMAS
Clever girl.

About the Creator
Javere Green
We may have our differences, but there is one thing that connects us all. The art of creation. What we think is what we create. Starting off with an idea and seeing that idea take life is awe inspiring.
