The thing is, it's my money. It's not my fault the cheating ratbag never updated his life insurance policy. The homewrecking wretch he left me for doesn't deserve a single penny of it.
I hear tell she's in the family way, though, and I'm not completely heartless. I could give her some of it. For the baby.
What, half? Good god, no. Does she even know how much the silly sod left? Probably not.
Ha! Wouldn't you like to know. Let me put it this way: it's a life-changing amount. I could pay off the house. Yes, really! With some to spare. As long as we don't do this every Friday night.
Pour me another would you? After all, I paid for the good stuff, I may as well enjoy it. Ha. Well. I spose if you want to get technical, my ex paid for the good stuff. He paid for this dress, too. (hic) Fancy, no? Wozza a a a a bargain, actually. Still cost more'n your rent. Probably. Disgusting, really, but I'm sillabra... slebberat.... I thought I should treat myself.
Thingis.... the... the thing is. The thing is this: I dint... dodnot... diddinnit aspeck him to... to... to.... leafme all that cash... but... ifm been honest widdya... Yanno, alotta people would say, oh, I diddun 'spect him to die... Can't say that. Can't say that at all.
But the money... That's mine. Legal (hic) legally. I didn't do it for the money. I give him what he deserved, and now I got... I got... I got what I deserve. Right? Right.
Pour me another would you? Might as well.

Wasn't sure for a second if she was just getting super drunk or was also being poisoned! But clearly she's fine...for the moment
I aspire to be her hahahahahaha. But only if she doesn't get caught, lol
Damn. She’s way too honest when she’s drunk. Hic! Thought this was brill. Just sorry she’s not going to have long to spend the money before the police come calling.
Great job! Perfect drunk “dialect.” Am I reading it right that she took him out?
My younger sister started living with a man who had been long separated from his wife. They'd been together for quite some time, several years, when he got struck by a vehicle while working on a crew. The estranged wife took everything. Oddly enough, my sister has never seemed bitter about it, having to leave what they had established as a home together over the years.
If she drinks too much, come to think of it she did, Karma gonna take a bite out of her too!
Dark, bitter, and strangely funny. The voice felt so real — messy emotions poured into every word. Karma never tasted this expensive. 🥃
I love how she gets more drunk as the story goes on!
Whoa! A step too much, I see! Life's complex like that...hard to say if he got what he deserved!
Its amazing the stories you come up with.
Loved the drunk girl talk, LC! You rendered it so well and I do hope Karma works all ways too.
This person's attitude towards the life insurance money is something else. It sounds like they're really torn about giving any to the new partner. I get that it's legally theirs, but with a baby involved, seems harsh. What would you do in this situation? Keep it all or share some for the kid? Also, the way they're talking about the ex and the new partner is pretty judgmental. Do you think it's right to label them like that just because of the circumstances? Makes you wonder what really went down in their relationship.
