Is it a Dream

Or my Reality

By Kenneth HainesPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Its Hurricane season 2021, Weathermen and News Stations are predicting strong storms heading our way. Time of it supposedly to impact is between midnight early morning hours.

Town folks are preparing, Me I've been through many storms and well prepared, my more concern is stuff gathered around the house, stacks of lumber, yard furniture, move farm equipment and trucks out into the open field not under trees since I live more looking like a forest around me Pines and Oaks .

Well I'm all set. Its getting into the evening hours, The weather outside is getting windy no rain yet, music playing in my front room I'm getting undressed and heading for bed.

Don't know what time it is, guess this storm is going to get worse than any other storms I've been through. The wind is blowing in every direction I hear heavy rain, but it also sounds like big hail is with it, I hear my mobile homes roof rumbling throughout the house, Flashes of lightning all around and thunder strikes very close by...FLASH, BANG, FLASH, BANG

Its getting crazy outside, I buried my head back under my covers praying it would just go around like all the other storms did .. Not this time.. The noise outside became deafening, it sounded more like a freight train heading straight for me.. No time to get myself into a safe part of my room I just rolled myself up along my bed headboard under my blankets and my foam mattress, waiting for it too pass.

I hear metal smashing, wood breaking, I felt myself being tossed or being twisted around, everything getting darker, My head hurting feeling the pressure around me, the heaviness now on top of me crushing, I feel light headed ...........

Don't know how long I was out or what time it even is, I feel a slight cool breeze, up beyond my head but I'm kind of stuck in my rolled up bed, I forced my arms up around my head and outside bedding, dug my fingers in and pulled myself out from under all that was on me, I find I'm in a small area no light can be seen, and I can not stand up only thing I can do is force myself back under the bedding and try the other side, The pain my head and other parts of my body are sore, but nothing is broken.

I force my way through to the other side, I see light but the color don't seem right, again I feel a slight breeze but this time its gritty and stuffy to where its hard to breath in COUGH COUGH I felt around and found a tee shirt I covered my mouth and nose it help made it easier too breath, I saw what was on top of me under the foam mattress some of my bedroom furniture but broken in big pieces and once was my floor was now wrap up and over my bed. I found some of my clothes but everything was covered with red dust guess that's was what I was breathing in.

I moved the dresser off the bed and used some of the walls wood to make a makeshift area and recovered each end with blankets so I would have a area that was safe from the red dust. As I was looking around I saw a package of water bottles way under my bed and against the wall. luckily only two bottles was crushed and empty, well I'm in my green PJs and a tee shirt wrapped around my face need to see if I can get a look outside ......

OH my Lord ....

Am I dead....

Where am I .....

I fell down to my knees, Everything around me is gone, All I see is red sand for what looks like miles... and a bright red sun blaring down on me....
