Is-it-a-dream

or my Reality part 2

By Kenneth HainesPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

All I see is red sand for what looks like miles... and a bright red sun blaring down on me....If this is Hell, it sure don't look like Heaven...

I start breathing heavy and feel a twist in my gut and a chill down my spine. I turn around and saw what was left of my mobile home, nothing left but my bedroom and half wall with a smashed closet door, The side I was able to get out used too be my bathroom, now its just twisted aluminum sheets and broken paneling and hanging broken wires.

I pulled back on a sheet of metal and crawled back inside, I need to think also need some water for my throat is sore and the temp outside is getting hotter, sweating , don't need to get over heated must relax and wait it out till sun is not blaring down on me.

Still have no idea what time it is or where I am but I know its not Texas, Well not the Texas I know. I crawled back down looking outside, I feel the air did get cooler and the sun has moved quite a bit to the right and not as bright, guess its no time but now to go back out n try to get a fix on where I am. Took another sip of water, And recovering my face I ventured back outside....What will be waiting for me I don't know but I must find answers.

I can see toward where the sun was nothing but flat red sand, way in the distance can not tell if its a hill, mountain or a storm. I looked to my left than my right still nothing, ok this don't look promising. Again I'm back looking at what I guess Ill call my safe hut. I walk around it and see what was in that direction....I see something, its not as far as what's facing the other way can not tell if its going to help but it is all I got to look into. I gathered up what strength I had and headed toward it, I keep turning back looking at my safe hut and seeing my foot prints in the red sand , so far everything looks good than the wind started to blow and I'm in between what ever I'm heading for and my Hut in the other direction. COUGH COUGH this wind getting stronger its getting hard to see and breath...I fall to the ground and put myself into the fetal position and wait.....

The wind subsided and I'm half buried in red sand, wish I brought some water, My stomach hurts, The hunger and thirst will be the death of me I know it. I stood up and looked toward I guess that's where I came from since my foot prints no longer in the sand but luckily what I was heading for is still visible, but figure its best I head back to my safe spot since its starting to get darker and soon Ill be walking in pitch darkness and could end up walking in circles.

Made it back took longer than when I left since it did get darker alittle faster than i thought it would, luckily when its night a cool breeze blows and in the pitch darkness I heard my twisted tin clanging and was able to find my safe hut, Felt around and found my entrance and crawled inside. Can not see anything inside but felt my bottle of water and snuggled back inside my mattress and let sleep take me away.

Yelled to my kid to stop being mean to his sister or he was not going to the lake with us , He yelled back "It's her fault" We loaded up and headed to our cabin, beautiful day blue sky cool breeze CLANG CLANG CRASH I was startled and sat up the clanging got louder and louder. I grab my pillow and pressed it around my ears to drown out the noise... then again all was quiet but something was amidst I can not put my finger on it but my gut telling me different.

I realized where I am and my situation, still no answers but I must push on for my life depends on my next decision guess this is my Reality.......and not a Dream.
