She stood at the shattered window looking out on the wilderness. There were no tracks so whatever had attacked the sanctuary was a ghost or came on dark wings.

It did not pass the portal, however her spells were too strong for the devilry that had come in the night.

Only the glass was shattered and it would be repaired to keep out the weather, but she knew that they would come again, so she divined a spell to protect the new window.

She was their Guardian, and she was the one who made them feel safe.

There were still those out there who wanted to destroy places of learning, love, and contentment, but she had protected this place for hundreds of years and would continue to do so in future.

She always hoped they would show their faces so that she could talk with them and show them true joy, but she knew at this moment, they were not ready for learning and contentment.

Tonight the sanctuary would be better protected than ever, and all would sleep soundly, knowing they were protected by their Guardian.

That is what I believe I will be when my time comes. I to think I will be roaming the hallways of my old school trying to help children and teachers.

  • Ah but that guardian doesn't stand a chance against me hahahahahahha. Loved your story!

Well, I felt protected and safer just from reading it, Mike. I hope you don't mind me pointing it out but there is a small typo in the last paragraph. Loved this!
