So, this is how fear feels. The floorboards below my hands are cold. The copper in my throat tastes metallic. The beast's footfalls thunder above. Each one threatening to stop my heart from beating. A vision of my mother appears in front of me. Am I hallucinating? Her voice calls to me, but I know she isn't there. Not now Mama, I've got to stay alive so I can visit you in hospice tomorrow.

The door in front of me shatters into an explosion of splinters as the beast enters the room. An ear-splitting roar erupts from its mouth calling out with the sound of the underworld. Dammit Sadie. I can’t believe you talked me into this. I’d be mad if the beast hadn’t ripped you apart seconds after you summoned it.

The air is acrid with the smell of sulfur. An unnatural heat rises in the room. I’m going to die because I couldn’t say no to a beautiful girl. My friends were right. Sexy Sadie, you really were the death of me.

The air grows so hot the hairs on my skin begin to singe. The beast comes for me. I hurdle myself backward screaming uncontrollably. I move until my back slams against finished drywall. I'm trapped, there is nowhere to go. A flash of white light pierces the beast. Before consuming it completely. Then the beast is gone leaving me alone in the room.

My phone rings. I look down to see it's the hospice nurse. No.
