"Two Detectives Uncover a Gateway to Another World"

By AbbasPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Detectives Sarah Miller and Jake Thompson stood in the dimly lit alleyway, the faint scent of damp earth lingering in the air. It was the fifth disappearance in as many weeks, and this one was no less mysterious than the others.

“This doesn’t feel right,” Sarah muttered, her flashlight beam sweeping across the empty alley. “Five people, all gone without a trace. It’s like they just vanished into thin air.”

Jake nodded, his jaw set in a grim line. “And every one of them disappeared near midnight, in areas just like this. Something’s not adding up.”

The two detectives had worked together for years, solving some of the city’s most baffling cases. But this one was different. It wasn’t just the lack of evidence that bothered them.

“We’ve combed through the surveillance footage,” Sarah said, frustration creeping into her voice. “Nothing. It’s like these people walked into a void.”

Jake frowned, pulling out the latest victim’s file. “All the victims had one thing in common—they were all last seen in areas with unusually high electromagnetic readings. I had the tech team run a scan on this alley. The readings are off the charts.”

Sarah looked at him, her eyes narrowing. “Electromagnetic? Like…a portal?”

Jake shrugged, though the idea seemed as far-fetched to him as it did to her. “I don’t know, but we can’t rule out anything at this point. We need to figure out where these readings are coming from.”

They followed the readings, which led them deeper into the maze of alleys until they came to a dead end. The walls around them were old, covered in faded graffiti, and the air grew colder, unnaturally so.

“This is it,” Jake said, his voice low. “The readings are strongest here.”

Sarah shined her flashlight on the wall in front of them. It seemed ordinary enough, but there was something off—an odd shimmer that caught the light in a way brick shouldn’t.

The moment she touched it, the wall rippled like water, and a low hum filled the air. Sarah yanked her hand back, eyes wide. “Did you see that?”

Jake nodded, already pulling out his phone to record. “We need to be careful. Whatever this is, it’s not natural.”

As they stood there, the hum grew louder, and the shimmering expanded, revealing a dark, swirling vortex. The air around them seemed to vibrate, and the pull from the vortex became palpable.

“This is where they went,” Sarah whispered, a mix of awe and fear in her voice. “They walked right into this.”

Jake stepped closer, his instincts screaming at him to stay back, but his curiosity driving him forward. “What do you think it is? A portal? A gateway?”

“I don’t know,” Sarah replied, her eyes fixed on the vortex. “But if we don’t go in, we’ll never find out what happened to them.”

They exchanged a glance, a silent agreement passing between them. Taking a deep breath, they stepped forward together, into the swirling darkness.

The world around them shifted, and they were plunged into a void. For a moment, it felt like they were falling, and then, just as suddenly, they were standing in a vast, open space.

“This…isn’t Earth,” Jake said, his voice trembling.

Sarah nodded, her heart pounding. “We’ve crossed into another dimension. This is where they’ve been taking people.”

As they took in their surroundings, movement caught their eye—figures emerging from the shadows. They were the missing people, but they were different now, their eyes glowing with an eerie light.

Sarah and Jake realized they were not just investigating disappearances anymore. They had stumbled upon something far bigger, something that threatened not just their city, but their entire reality.

And they were the only ones who could stop it.
