Strong. Steady. The Admiral of a fleet of six hundred thousand sailors and Marines, this man did not have to lean on his color. Admiral Dodson Bickerman stood also as the Chief of Staff to United States President Haddish Cormac.

“What are we even doing here?” Cormac asked Dodson.

“I know it wasn’t the absolute decision. I had to work for mine. And I know you did, too.”

“Goddamn right.”

“Goddamn right.”

“We’re black men who happen to live in America and not be power hungry but confident in our roles of power.”

“These are the facts, friend,” Bickerman remarked.
