Did Curiosity Really Kill The Cat

Is it okay to be extra curious?

The young man above is curious and you can tell that he is a curious fellow in the picture above. The woman next to him is curious also, but you can't really tell if she is watching what he is watching. She is though as she almost always knows exactly what is going on around her. I found out that a term for this is hypervigilance. And you can bet her mother may have it too. And my guess is he comes by his curiosity naturally as he probably comes from a long line of curious men and women.

The choice of this restaurant was due to it being a curious place to go. Who ever heard of an Asian restaurant that sold crepes? I was curious and that is what brought me in here. Then to receive Asian cuisine for a first course. Soup with noodles.

Well, I found out the crepes are in another place upstairs, as the woman mentioned this to the young man and I overheard. So much for my noticing. I really thought they were in the same place and they are only in the same building. Maybe a crepe to go?

A large group of people entered as we were all waiting for our food. The group got a few looks from the young man's table. Now, it is an interesting group of people. Just a few men and about a dozen women. There was a woman that seemed to take the lead in the group when ordering. She appeared to order for everyone. How strange. They didn't talk about it at the young man's table, but when they left, I am sure they would compare notes!

I was wondering why such a large group of people would be having lunch in a small community restaurant. The next thing that occurred to me was that the food must be good and it didn't take long to find that out, as my food arrived just then, right after that thought.

When I left, I could see that the woman and young man were right behind me. The woman said the group are more than likely in the medical field. Then she said, the woman ordering is probably a charge nurse. That is how my charge nurse is, always in charge. And they laughed, so I laughed too. When they realized I heard them they invited me over. I didn't get they were medical people I told them, but the woman is a nurse she tells me. And I agree then as she must know!

The young man said, the kitchen help looked all flustered when they got their order. He said it was fun watching them be upset in another language and that he wished he could understand Korean. I have no idea how he knew they were speaking Korean, but he appeared so sure of himself, that I said something in Korean and he looked at me so surprised that I told him that he was exactly right. They were all flustered about the order as the charge nurse had ordered all the more difficult items on the menu. Then we all laughed again as I referred to the charge nurse and we all said 'charge nurse' in unison.

My husband always calls me nosey, and he says he knows exactly where our kids get it from. I know I take after my mother, and that is who our children get their nosiness from. He never agrees with that comment, but it's true. Most of them are nosier than me. And the thought just occurred to me that I have very little hypervigilance as I have worked on my PTSD. It took a few years but together with a support group and an occasional therapist, I am doing quite well.

Then why am I all huddled up with these two sharing our nosiness? It is hard to lose something you have practiced your whole life and isn't life worth all of the little things, the little pleasures, and the attempts to figure out the mysteries and find all of the answers to life. I think so! Wait until I tell my daughter!
