Born moments ago in a darkened cloud, falling freely, furiously fluttering forward. The cold breath of life danced between the snowflake and its brothers and sisters as they tumbled and twisted together, towards the town way below.

Bright lights struggled upward through the flurry, blinking reds and greens and oranges, lining the trees and lining the houses. Small humans played in the remains of the snowflake’s fallen brethren, once all unique, now all as one, together as they clustered closely, carefully collecting in clumps.

The sounds of laughter barely penetrated the icy wind as the snowflakes continued their journey downward. It was mere minutes since they were born, and they had mere moments to live. And so, knowing their fate, they chose to be happy, dancing on the wind, dancing around each other, dutifully decorating the dusk as the sky deepened and darkened. For when your lifespan is so short, there’s no time for sadness.

And now as the Earth grew nearer, it was time to decide where to land. Most snowflakes fell on the ground, on rooftops, and on rivers. They took the easy way out as they went with the flow. This snowflake however, was determined to do something special. And with all its might, it slipped seamlessly sideways, sparkling as it spun towards its target.

Moments later, with a delicate touch, the snowflake landed gently on a little boy’s nose. The little boy’s face lit up with joy and the snowflake knew its work was now done.

Beautifully written, this piece flows nicely and is full of imagery Aythan! I especially liked “once all unique, now all as one, together as they clustered closely, carefully collecting in clumps.”, and the idea of snowflakes being never identical, but now all the same. Well done🤗

The journey of a snowflake. This was really magical and can I just compliment you on your extensive use of alliteration throughout? I loved the idea of them being family and I love the idea of that snowflake being just that bit braver and bolder than the others. I found his ending sad and yet uplifting too. Magical.
