It all happened so fast… nobody was ready.
First they fell from the sky…

We were eating dinner like a “traditional family” if you can call what we have a family at this point.
I hate it here, nothings been the same since my sister Neila “left”. Moms always angry, Dad’s buried himself in work we barely even see him anymore.
Then there’s my younger sister Shaya… well I’m actually not to sure how Shaya has been. She doesn’t talk much these days the therapist says she just needs time to process everything. Its hard having your family fall apart in front of you at 10.
Tonight was a special night, one of the few nights we all get together and play pretend. Like we’re all oblivious to the inevitable.
I hate it
I hate the silence it’s like it screams at me sometimes you know? Daring me to utter a word any word to break the spell that’s been cast.
I hate it all, I hate them I hate it here I hate this life!
I can’t take it, Im tired of playing this game like everything is alright! I feel it bubbling up in my chest threatening to spill out. “I hate it” I whisper
“What?” The irritated confusion coloring my moms tongue was the last straw the dam had been broke.
“I’m tired of pretending like everything is fine and nothing has changed. We can’t even stand to be in the same room for too long! What happened to Neila? I know you kicked her out! She would never just leave without saying something! Without an explanation or…or without me! We promised to be by each other’s side no matter what!”
“Oh so It’s our fault!?” My mother rages “That’s golden coming from you! You never even leave your room you have no idea what even happens in this house you selfish bitch?! Both you and your sister all you care about is yourselves! She had it…
Boom
The table vibrates, the lights flicker, and we all look at each other wide eyed trying to process the sudden change of events.
My Father is the first one out of his seat. As he steadies himself, he slowly turns his head to the left trying to peer out the sliding back doors 6 feet from us.
His black leather loafers echoing throughout the now still house house as he slowly walks to the door.
He fills on the porch light and goes completely still not a breath is drawn in to his lungs. Eyes wide and glassey he looks stupefied.
I get up from my seat next and glide over to where my father is frozen in place. Out twords the farthest end of our back yard is a huge crater covers in smoke I can barley make out a rock like structure through it.
Now here’s where everything took a turn for the worst wether we realized it or not.
My father shakes himself from his trance and goes to unlatch the door.
“Woah what are you doing?” I grab his hand to stop him midway.
“I don’t know when’s the last time you watched a horror movie but you don’t just go out and investigate the weird scary thing that falls from the sky!”
My hearts beating uncontrollably in my chest as my mind races through all the scenarios that could go wrong.
He stares me in my eyes for a second before he turns scoffs and rips his hand from mine. “Your really need to leave the house more it’s most likely a satellite that fell go hide in your room if you’re so scared.”
He goes for the handle again this time flipping the latch and pulling the door open wide enough for his body. He steps out and closes the door behind him.
He pauses for a minute takes a deep breath then proceeds to the hole in the yard. The crater is no longer tha 5 foot across and what seems to be about 3 feet deep covered in a deep fog like smoke.
Weird for something that should of been falling at the speed of a rocket to only leave a shallow crater.
As he gets closer the smoke surrounding it dissipates enough for me to see a odd looking rock and I’m pretty sure that’s not what a satellite looks like. It’s a deep red with green lights pulsating through the cracks.
Now on the border of the crater Dad leans a little closer and reaches his hand out to touch the odd colored rock. Right before his finger could make contact the rock shakes rapidly and cracks in two releasing more smoke so strong Dad loses his balance and falls over.
All rationality flies from my head as I race out the door to grab him. “What are you doing?! Why would you you try to touch that!?” He doesn’t say a thing eyes locked ahead on the strange rock.
I turn to assess the danger at our feet but my attention is caught by this glimmering object floating from the crack in the rock.
It’s a locket in the shape of a heart glowing these calming and ever changing colors reds, blues, yellows. Never settling long in a color it was breathtaking almost…ethereal.
Before I realize it my body is moving in it’s own. Now right in front of the locket it’s even more stunning, it’s almost as if you can feel something inside calling for you to reach out and… it’s snatched from my view before I can so much as lay a finger on it.
Jerked back to reality I turn and see my father holding the amulet to his face and cresses it as if it’s something precious and delicate.
There’s a glint in his eye I can’t quite make out, I’ve never seen my dad look like this before.
A weird feeling settles in my stomach as he turns as if in a trace and walks back in without saying a single word.
Looking back to the crater I notice the rock that was once standing tall now reduced to a pile of rubble.
“This can’t be good” I mumbled as I trudge back in the house tword the unknown and what ever chaos it chose to bring but one thing I was sure of this was only the beginning.
April 28th, 3022
It’s been weeks since we’ve seen Dad after that night he’s holed hisself up in his study room and won’t come out. But at night I hear strange noises sometimes it’s crying other times it’s like mindless babble.
We stopped trying to get him to come out after a week. The only reaction we would get was a venomous “go away” so deep that it sent chills down your spine.
It turns out we weren’t the only ones this happened to, there have been cases popping up all over the world. The rocks falling from the sky all different colors and sizes but one thing they all had in common is that they all contained a similar locket but the other lockets were different all one color never changing and they are all made from the same weird unknown rock material.
All the worlds leading scientists are breaking their backs to find out what the material is. So far they just know it’s not from earth, any other information is hushed by the government.

There are no celebrations going on today or probably ever again… I don’t know what’s going on anymore.
Yesterday …everything changed

The news is horrific
One of the first reported people to find an amulet was found dead in their home but that wasn’t the crazy part they were found ripped in two but there was no sign of another person being in the home.
It’s stared with one case then there was two then three then… half the population was torn to peices.
In one night half the world was gone and nobody knows how.
One thing they had in common was they all died at night and near a locket.
Confused and scared I turn off my tv and stumble out of my room down the hall to my Dad’s study. I go to knock when I notice the door is ajar and there’s strange noises coming from within.
I muster up all my courage and grab the handle, pushing the door open barely stepping pass the frame. Its dark in the room besides that beautiful multicolored glow that brought back a familiar feeling one I couldn’t quite place.
*creeek* My head whips to the right of the room where the sound came from closer to the source of light. Taking a deep breath I raise my hand to flick on the light.
As the fixture above flicker to life the blood in my veins freeze at the sight.
In the far right corner of the room there was red splattered everywhere as if someone came and threw a bucket of paint at it.
The sharp iron smell filling my nose left no room for questions.
Blood
And from the looks of it there was more to come.
Across the room stood a tall and haunting creature it’s figure drapped in all black with glowing green lines wrapped around the long limbs with what seems like hooves on the end. The face is shielded from the light by a long and stringy mane.
The figure wasn’t paying me any attention as it had its sight on something else or should I say someone else.
There sitting crumbled up against the wall was my mother shaking in fear gaze locked on to the creature looming above her. A steady flow of tears cascading down her cheek. Next to her closer to the blood on the wall layes the torn bottom half of a body. Dad
My frozen body falls down as my legs finally give under the pressure. The sound of the impact jerked my mom from her stuper. Her wide eyes meet mine, then in a flash her eyes steel with determination and she throws something in my direction. Just as quick the figure snaps it’s head head in my direction.
Fear consumes me as I peer into the endless abyys that some would call eyes. It tilts its head in confusion like it doesn’t know what it’s looking at.
It turns and gestures to me as if it wants to say something. But before it could utter a word my mom screams loud and shrilling catching its attention.
With the gaze now broke I look to the side at the object laying there.
The locket, the one from that night sitting at my feet. The cause of all this chaos. But somehow when I look at it I’m overwhelmed with this unknown feeling but it’s not fear or hatred. It’s unsettling but familiar.
I grab the locket and hurry to put in my pajama pants pocket. The creatures complete attention is on my mother as she screams and thrashes around.
Suddenly the screams are words “ Ruun! Grab Shaya and Run!”
Without a single thought I did just that. I pulled myself up and stumbled out the door without looking back. I manage to run across to shaya’s room I bust open the door in my hurry. I look around but don’t see her, then I hear sniffling coming from under the bed.
I get down to my knees and pull back the covers to see a hunched up little body deep under the bed under a small blanket that’s seen better days.
“Shaya come on we have to go right now!” She peeks her head out of the blanket to see me.
“Where’s mom and dad? I’m scared” she whispers. I know I can’t tell her what’s actually happening not right now.
“Come on! I’ll tell you on the way but for right now I need you to come with me while we have the chance”. I harshly force out trying to delay the talk.
Something flickers in her eyes but it’s gone as soon as it was there. “Fine… for now” she shakily whispers.
Moving at a much faster pace now she slides from under the bed and goes for the closet and grabs a already packed bag.
“When did you pack that?” I wonder “I watch the news too and Neila always said it’s better to be over prepared then under so I got somethings ready here’s one for you”. I feel like I should ask more questions but now’s not the time.
Quickly we run out the room and as we reach the front door the screams cut off and the house is enveloped in silence.
Then powerful foot steps thunder down the hall at a slow and steady pace. We don’t wait to see who it is.
A blood curdling roar fills the air
Ripping open the door we run out into the night away from the only home we’ve ever known and into a world that is crumbling down around us.
May 12th 3022
We don’t stop running we stop only for sleep and to find food other than that it’s too dangerous.
That creature… wasn’t the only one
They’re everywhere I don’t know what they want or where they came from but one thing I’ve come to realize after studying the locket is that as long as its on me I can tap into some sort of brainwave.
Something in the locket calls to me.
I don’t know how it’s possible when Shaya wears it she cant feel anything.
We make plans to leave the city it’s not safe it’s been weeks since we last saw another human and at this point I don’t know if there are any left.
With no choice on transportation we find a couple of bikes around the neighborhood and ride off to find our next shelter.
It’s crazy how things change so fast in the blink of an eye the whole world was turned upside down.
