A Tale

By Mike Singleton πŸ’œ Mikeydred Published 6 months ago β€’ 1 min read
Cover of the 1970 album Quatermass

The modern world had failed. Climate change was going to kill the Earth, but scientists came up with a concept called the Time Shift. This was going to return the Earth to a time before the Industrial Revolution, but only the climate would regress. Nothing else.

The Time Shift went into operation, and it took the climate back, but also wiped out technology and most of humanity.

He was one of the few survivors, but he had not seen any others. He had scavenged food and was walking along an empty street when he heard a screech from above, and bearing down on him were flying dinosaurs, pterodactyls, if he remembered his history lessons.

He found shelter in an office block as the pterodactyls landed.

How far back had the Time Shift taken the Earth and everything else. These were the first dinosaurs that he had seen, and he had the feeling that there would be more.

This was no Jurassic Park; this was a complete system failure, and there was no escape for him.

Outside the office block, the pterodactyls were screeching.

The situation was not good.

But I thought only the climate would regress? So why did technology and humans get wiped out? A malfunction? Also, I love how it went back 66 million years to dinosaurs hehehehe

What a creative short, short story and to make a future go prehistoric is a great idea. When tech go too far. Good job.
