Alpacas became more and more common on farms and in petting zoos, but some became infected by ticks that carried a virus (although they had already been infected by the dicks that ran the government and media) that was lethal to humans and once the humans got it, it became airborne.

Because all scientific research and medical facilities had been shut down to funnel money into the pockets of bankers and billionaires, the virus just spread, and the politicians and rich just partied and laughed.

The red tops had a field with headlines at the expense of the dead, not realising that they would not be around much longer.
