"You're going to get what you deserve! People like you do nothing more than abuse and harass innocent women like me! You'll be behind bars with the rest of the lowlife scum!"

Brenda Hodges uttered these venomous words to her boyfriend of only four months, Marcus Stott, as she expressed absolute pleasure when she heard police sirens closing in on the house. Not wanting to wait any longer, Brenda ran out of the house and pointed the officers in Marcus' direction, basically ordering them to arrest him for battery. However...

"Wait, what are you doing?! You're making a mistake!"

Brenda found herself being handcuffed by the very officers she was ordering around.

"Brenda Hodges, you're under arrest for filing a false police report."

Brenda's arrest was followed by very disturbing revelations. She was diagnosed as a serial acrimoniac; an obsession with creating hostility. In the case of Brenda, her victims were all the same: single Black men. After dating these men, Brenda would falsely accuse them of domestic battery. There had been three other victims in two years, with her actions resulting in the death of one of them, a man named Lance Phipps, who took his own life after being on the receiving end of racist death threats.

A recording of Brenda making a racist boast about her actions ended up being her undoing. Brenda ended up behind bars, and regarding Marcus, his peace of mind returned following the end of his ordeal.

Love the word and the story, Clyde. Just an editor's note: Since it applies to a person, it would be a noun. (You could use "acrimoniacal" as an adjective.)

Another great word! You are good at this (and short, engaging reads). If you have a few minutes, I also did a story about a false accusation that took a man's life during a painful time in our history, "Lies In Ruins". I'd love for you to check it out :)

  • Oh no, poor Lance! Luckily Marcus got out of this! Brenda got what she deserved! Loved your word and story!
