I don't want to go.

Why not?

Because your family are such hard work.

In what way?

They just...I don't know...make me feel...like crap.

You're too sensitive.

I knew you'd say that. That's why I don't say anything.

Are you saying you're not going to come?

No, just that I'm not going to enjoy it.

Don't come then.

I can't do that!

You can. If it bothers you that much to spend time with my family, don't come.

I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

So why did you? So I hate it too?

Sorry.

Too late.

This kind of communication happens too frequently in relationships. Hearing, but not listening. Great drabble!

Yikes! Hate to say it but these are probably fairly common conversations…family is hard, especially if it’s one you’re brought into

  • Never was a problem with Sandra's family. The challenge is with mine.

Good God, r-bud - Didja hit it on the internationally - elbow room only - relatable head. I'd count down the days until I'd have to attend these events, whereby whoever reaches over and shouts the loudest gets the potatoes passed. j-bud.in.l.a.

Sometimes silence speaks louder than words, huh?

  • And that ladies and gentlemen, is why we should just stay single and avoid poppycock like this, lol. I learnt poppycock from Caroline and have been dying to use it, lol

  • So well said… sadly, a common feeling 🥹.

Felt. Especially between my family and my wife- but we’re lucky, I don’t like them that much either

This feels all too real. Well done Rachel!

Oh my, speaking of the value of open and honest communication. Great Drabble, Rachel.

  • I'd have to agree 100% with John! Familial dynamics are a Pandora's Box. One I don't care to open!! A drabble of truth, Mistress Deeming.
