A Tale For My 3,456th Vocal Story Inspired By 'The Somnabulist' by Jim Harter

Introduction
This is my 3,456th Vocal Story, and I thought a piece about counting may be relevant. We sometimes count to get to sleep, and the creepy somnambulist picture by Jim Harter seemed a perfect inspiration for a tale.
Another wonderful picture shared by The Enchanted Booklet here:
The music is "Sleepwalkers" by Van Der Graaf Generator from their album "Godbluff"

Seh counted to get to sleep, she always did, but it did not always work. Sometimes she ended up in dreams, in darkness, after the counting had stopped, but she never knew where she was.
As she walked the paths through the city of night, Death watched over her, waiting for his chance to take another soul, but tonight was not the night that she was to come to him.
She wandered, lost, looking for an egress having mysteriously found the ingress to this city of darkness.
There were statues, had the been men and women who had encountered Medusa and her serpentine locks? She did not know, but her heart flutterd as she thought of the creatures that could be waiting for her.
She walked on as Death watched and let her be, walking slowly towards the morning and safety.

Super congrats to you Mike on achieving such an enormous amount of work! Truly admirable.
A very intriquing artwork you have shared with the Vocal readers. I look at it and think about several Led Zep album covers --- They and Pink Floyd often had a thing about strange art for their album covers. Dig it.
A chilling tale that fits the picture. I have had nights like this believe it or not. Good job.
