275 G.O.D.
For Tuesday, October 1, Day 275 of the 2024 Story-a-Day Challenge

Everyone talks about the "good ol' days." The good ol' days seems to be the stuff of fantasies and fond reminiscences. They were a time when all was well, life was good, and the air was sweet. They were good! They were ol'! They were the days!
That is why I did what I did.
I'm the proactive kind of guy who cuts to the chase. Why waste time? I took out my calendar and scheduled my good ol' days. They're coming up and I'm so excited. Everyone's entitled to some. Most older people have had them in spades. I know. I hear how they talk about them.
So we shouldn't really miss them when they happen. All these old goats fondly recall their good ol' days, but not one of them can admit that they knew they were happening when they did. Why?
I know why.
Because after they happen, some bad days follow. It's a fact. Just when one of Henry VIII's wives got him trained just the way they wanted him... off with her head! I can tell you she was thinking about how things were better when her neck was positioned just so.
I wonder if the axeman was thinking, as he swung his decapitating instrument through the nape of her fair neck if that day--the day of the execution--was one of his good ol' days.
Lesson: good ol' days are not transferrable.
So, my good ol' days, if you're curious, are coming up near the end of the month. I've slated October 15-3o as my good 0l' days (G.O.D.). That acronym. Makes you think, doesn't it.
I don't know how they become G.O.D., but I can see some things falling into place already. I can smell the air getting sweeter. I can sense things going, from some things being good, to all is well. The calendar is parting, like the Red Sea, for my matriculation into the calendar of the sublime, days October 15-30. Six days of perfection. Six days of "good ol'."
That's how many days GOD took to make the Earth, and it is the time I will use as G.O.D. to make the rest of my life. Sweet.

Not to be "that guy", but Henry hired a top swordsman from France for Anne Boleyn's execution. I have no idea how I know that.
I scheduled 90 of them at 2024's beginning. And ... man were they sweet. But I think the whole point of expectation (both good and bad) is to look forward not back. Loved this. Very thought-provoking piece!
Hehehehehehe I wanna have some of those days too lol
So true in that we don't realize we're living the good ole' days whilst they're happening. Interesting piece.
Delightful and enjoyable read!!! Loving it!!!❤️❤️💕
Ah, the g.o.d. ol days. I need to schedule some for myself. This was fun. Well done.
Made me reflect on my g.o.d.s :) I enjoyed the read.
Clever and funny as always!
There are a lot of Good Old Days, and there will be lots of Good New Days but GND is not as good an acronym. Excellent piece
The countdown gets lower every day. What would we be without those GOD days.
