THE BIGGEST LIE ABOUT VEGANISM

Are vegans less healthy than meat eaters

By Austine Ochieng Published 2 years ago 3 min read

The popularity of veganism has experienced a significant surge across the globe. While some individuals adopt this lifestyle out of sympathy for animals, an increasing number of people are switching to veganism due to environmental and health claims. However, the accuracy of these claims remains a topic of debate. For instance, it is unclear whether going vegan makes a noticeable difference on the planet, or if the impacts are exaggerated. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the potential health risks associated with a vegan diet, such as the lack of animal proteins and nutrients that may be detrimental to the body. While numerous claims have been made over the years, access to good quality studies has only recently become available.

Research has found that a vegan diet has a major impact on the environment, using less land, conserving more water, and producing fewer greenhouse gases compared to omnivorous diets. However, not all vegan foods are created equal, and some alternatives may have a higher environmental impact than others. Despite the fact that our ancestors started eating meat around 2 million years ago, some suggest that humans are primarily vegetarian, as evidenced by the diets of modern primates.

While a vegan diet can provide numerous health benefits, such as reducing the risk of high blood pressure, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer, it is important to note that some nutrient deficiencies may arise, such as a lack of vitamin B12. However, supplements are available to mitigate these risks. Additionally, concerns have been raised about bone strength, as vegans have a higher risk of breaking their bones than meat eaters. However, the link between dairy consumption and bone strength is not clear, and other factors may be at play.

While a vegan diet may have some potential health risks, these can be mitigated through careful planning and supplementation. Moreover, a vegan diet can provide numerous health benefits and is better for the environment. However, it is important to remain skeptical of exaggerated claims and to approach veganism with intention and health in mind.

ALONGSIDE devastating impacts of climate change, including hurricanes, droughts, floods, and famine, caused by global warming. This warming is primarily caused by the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from burning fossil fuels for energy. However, a breakthrough in science and physics has led to the development of carbon capture technology, which can remove carbon dioxide from the air. While this technology has the potential to mitigate the effects of climate change, it must be implemented correctly to avoid exacerbating the problem.

Climate change is caused by the greenhouse effect, which occurs when carbon dioxide traps heat in the Earth's atmosphere. This effect is responsible for the environmental devastation we are currently experiencing, as well as the extreme heat waves that have killed people and animals. Carbon capture technology aims to remove carbon dioxide from the air using various methods, such as direct air capture, which uses geothermal power to collect CO2 from the air and store it in porous rock.

One promising application of carbon capture technology is the development of carbon capture trains, which can remove carbon dioxide from the air as they move. These trains use an electric motor attached to the wheels to generate energy every time the train brakes, which is used to power the carbon capture system. The air enters the train through large intakes, and aquinone molecules bind with the CO2, which is then stored in a separate car at the back of the train. However, the regulation of this technology is crucial to ensure that the captured CO2 is not used to extract more fossil fuels, which would only exacerbate the problem of climate change.

In addition to carbon capture technology, we must also prioritize the preservation and planting of trees, which are natural carbon dioxide capturing machines. While carbon capture technology has the potential to mitigate the effects of climate change, it must be implemented correctly and regulated to ensure that it does not contribute to the problem. Companies must also be held accountable for their investment in renewable energy and their de-investment from the fossil fuel industry. By working together, we can fight for a better future and ensure that carbon capture technology does good in our world.
