Eat Sushi at a Japaneses Restaurant the Right Way
If you do not like sushi, you are probably eating it wrong way

Sushi is one of the most elegant delicacies in the world. It is exotic to look at and yummy to eat. Whether you are eating sushi at an Asian restaurant or with your friends at a gathering, you would surely want to eat it like it is meant to be. Although it is not mandatory to follow sushi bar etiquettes, it is advised that you do.
Sushi is not just another filling dish but an experience in itself, and only by knowing the rules of eating sushi can you enjoy the dish to its fullest.
The Greeting
Any decent sushi restaurant guide will impress upon you the greeting way of the Japanese. When you enter a Japanese restaurant, the staff will welcome you with a traditional greeting “irasshaimase” to which you are not supposed to answer. Just acknowledge, and you can move on by asking about your seating arrangement.
The Chopstick

Whether at a Hawaii sushi bar or an authentic Japanese restaurant, using the chopstick is mandatory for sushi. Do not go for the fork or spoon to eat your sushi. We understand that not all of us have the habit of handling chopsticks, but it is easy. Hold the first chopstick like you would hold your pencil and put the second one against your ring finger. Point the chopsticks towards your sushi and place the sushi between the two sticks without exerting too much pressure. The pressure should be enough to lift your sushi off the serving platter.
The One Bite Rule
Unlike Chinese side dishes, you do not tear your sushi with a knife. It is supposed to be eaten in one go to enjoy all the flavors at once. Besides, it is bad etiquette to break up your fish. Therefore, sushis are always divided, keeping in mind the one-bite rule.
This one bite rule mainly makes sushi easier to handle with chopsticks than any other traditional dish. All you need to do is pick and eat.
Do No Dip Your Sushi in Soy Sauce

You must have seen the accompaniment that comes with sushi. It is soy sauce and is supposed to enhance the dish's taste. However, some people make the error of completely dipping their sushi in the sauce. Too much soy sauce can severely mar the taste, and you could go home with a bitter tongue and a compromised experience.
Therefore, it is best to use the slightest amount as the sauce is strong and flavorful.
No Pickled Ginger With the Sushi
The pickled ginger is ideally eaten after you have finished your bite of sushi. When taken together, the ginger overpowers the taste.
A lot of people around the world do not like sushi. Some say they do not like the taste, while some are not in love with the texture. But the fact is most of these people do not know how to correctly eat sushi which is why they have failed to enjoy its subtle and elegant flavor.
Now that you know how to eat sushi the right way, we hope the next time you visit a Japanese restaurants Honolulu; you will have no problem following the instructions or handling your sushi
