Chicken with a smile
Frugal meals can be tasty

Thank you for your time reading today. A little about me before I begin. I am a single woman living on less than a grand a month. I don't sit down and cry about it. I am also disabled so I live my best life. I love love love chicken. Maybe too much of the fried chicken as well. Due to my gout, Fibromyalgia, and Bipolar. I do my best to change my eating habits. There is no getting around the frugal part. I won't lie.
I began trying meals outside of the norm a few years ago. To my amazement, I loved the outcome. I learned my style of eating was flavorful at best. I began buying different veggies as well. They are not my favorites. However, frozen mixed veggies are. Now I pack it in my freezer when possible. I might as well mention I have a severe phobia of running low on food. I am in therapy so that helps. I still pack my pantry.
Today I decided to take out some chicken parts. I love wingettes so there you see them. I soaked them in chicken broth for a few hours. It happens to be one thing I love to do. I just love the flavor to the bone not just the outside. I dropped the chicken in the pot to simmer. I added a video above as well. I then opened a nice bottle of Italian dressing. One of my newer purchases to try.
I tossed in a few additions like garlic and pepper. I also thought sure not to cook a lot just in case. I could not enjoy the taste of my new concoction. It turned out to be so much better than I could imagine. I loved the spices deep into the core of the meat. I slowly simmered it just enough. I find each day I am thinking of a new meal.
Most of the time I will make enough for just that day. Other times I make enough for a second meal another day. I began recording my frugal way of cooking. I love the awesome comments that come from around the world. A few times people gave me ideas to try. I am looking forward to making new dishes during the colder months. I learned a little shocking secret. I actually adore making quick frugal meals.
If you're ever thinking of learning to cook. Just open your mind to trying something. it can be something you create that turns into a favorite. Don't let fear stop you from trying something. Just pick up a food basket then walk around the store. Think of some flavors you enjoy most. Take your time adding them to the pot. Remember less salt is so much better than too much salt.
if you have a neighbor or family there. Offer them to come and have a try. Ask them for honest reviews of it. You don't want to be flat-out bombed. You always want the truth to help u get better. I have thick skin when it comes to this stuff. I know not everyone will love hot sauce. Heck, I don't dare be good with hot pepper. Nope, not I.
Regardless of what your skill level is. Just jump into it with a few items for the fun of it. I learned something valuable along the way. I much prefer a home-cooked meal. I know my hands are clean along with my cooking surfaces. You just don't know these things when dining outside. I don't want to scare you. I just mean it feels safer eating at home.

I have seen the changes you have made over the years in how you now cook, and eat, and how much you are open to trying things to see if you will or won't like it. You are doing so much to help others open up their minds to cooking on a budget, living within their means, and doing what they can to feed themselves and a family within a budget. I have subscribed to you here. I have also started to write here.
