Betty Crocker Small Bites: 100 Recipes For The Way You Really Cook - Cookbook Review
Summary
According to the cookbook, these recipes are irresistible! You cannot stop at just one! Some recipes may be prepared ahead.
Also, have a selection of drinks available,
The following are some examples of recipes:
****Veggie Tortilla Roll-Ups
For a little more flavor and variety, use spinach or tomato tortilla wraps! (Personally, I would not use corn tortilla wraps)
Cream cheese, sour cream, shredded Cheddar, red bell pepper (Personally, I would use green bell peppers), olives (I would omit), parsley and plain tortilla wraps.
***Italian Soda
Bottles of assorted flavored syrup for drinks, bottles of club soda (Personally, I would use seltzer) and slices of fruit.
Chill syrups and club soda or seltzer before serving. Fill tall glasses with ice cubes. Pour 2 to 3 tbsp of flavored syrup in each glass. Then pour in chilled club soda or seltzer. Garnish with fruit!
***Creamy Caramel-Peach Parfaits
Use other canned fruits for a variety!
Caramel topping (Why stop there? Why not chocolate, strawberry, etc.?), container of thawed frozen whipped topping, broken up soft molasses cookies (Personally, I would use vanilla wafers, soft chocolate chip, etc.), can of peaches (drained and in pieces) (Why not cans of pears, bunches of grapes, bunches of bananas. I would use cut up bananas.)
***Milk Chocolate Fondue
Half-and-half, stir with melted milk chocolate chips and dip with dippers (Personally, I do not own fondue forks and would use toothpicks). Dippers can include banana slices, angel food cake cubes, marshmallows, pineapple chunks, etc.
Don’t have a fondue pot? Use a Crock-Pot!
***Peanut Butter Fondue
Packed brown sugar, half-and-half, honey and dippers (see recipe of Milk Chocolate Fondue recipe above).
Don’t have a fondue pot? Use a Crock-Pot!
Opinion
The fondue recipes call for half-and-half. I never buy half-and-half. So, I need to improvise. So, I am mixing melted butter with milk.
These recipes are scrumptious whether prepared for yourself alone or for a crowd.
The Veggie Tortilla Roll-Ups recipe is a winner as ingredients are easy to find. Such recipe is awesome for a Meatless Monday! Do you want to stop consuming so much meat? Are you throwing a get-together and need a few bites for the vegetarians?
The Italian Sodas recipe is a little expensive but nice to have as a treat. You can usually find a few inexpensive syrups if you search online.
The Parfait is nice as you can use whatever ice cream topping, fruit and cookie that you want. There are no rules!
I like both fondue recipes and cannot make up my mind on which I like better! I am a chocoholic so definitely Milk Chocolate. I have recently been on a peanut butter protein shake kick, so the Peanut Butter Fondue recipe seems delicious! Why not have a fondue bar? Have 2 Crock-Pots lined up! Why not have 1 Crock-Pot for Milk Chocolate Fondue and the other for Peanut Butter!
Out of all, Milk Chocolate Fondue is the most frugal with milk, butter, milk chocolate chips and whatever dippers that you can afford.
As drinks, I would serve iced tea (unsweetened for those that may be diabetic or watching their weight and sweet tea for everyone else), lemonade (cannot afford fresh lemons? Buy lemon juice bottles at your local dollar store), bottled water, diet soft drinks, coffee, cocktails and mocktails for those not wanting alcohol. You do not need to serve all of these drinks. Such drinks are simply some examples.
If these recipes seem delicious to you, why not borrow a copy of the cookbook from your local library?
I give this cookbook a 5-star rating!
