How and where did this miraculous plant appear?

There are, of course, several legends about the history of coffee. It seems that the most common is that coffee was discovered by goats. Yes, yes, it's true! It is said that in the 1400s a shepherd was grazing animals. Suddenly, he saw the goats start flying after eating some red fruit.

Curious, he even tasted the fruit and felt it become more and more energetic. After this discovery, the magic beans reached the monks who boiled them, then consumed the drink to stay awake overnight.

As the country of origin of the coffee, the testimonies say that it is Ethiopia. From there, it later spread to Arabia, Yemen, and Egypt. It is not for nothing that in ancient times it was called "Arabian wine".

We have the first references in history in the ninth century, but only in the tenth century began to be prepared as a hot drink. Until then, coffee was considered more of a food. The grains were ground and mixed with animal fat to form a spreadable paste.

How is coffee consumed in different parts of the world?

Of course, drinking coffee is influenced by the culture of each society. However, we find the most unique ways to prepare and serve the drink in the following countries:

Finland - where hot coffee is poured over… pieces of cheese. Tempting? Hmm, let's think about it. But what is certain is that the Finns love the combination;

Morocco - where coffee is seasoned. The locals add to the traditional mixture spices such as nutmeg, cardamom, black pepper, or cinnamon;

Italy - where a real espresso is sweet and sour. Add a little sugar and serve with a slice of lemon that makes the coffee taste more intense;

Ireland - where something new is added to hot coffee - a little whiskey (Irish, of course!). The drink is sweetened with sugar and a little milk foam or whipped cream is added on top.

Interesting, isn't it? It's like you try them all to see what they taste like!

International Coffee Day is a perfect occasion to promote and celebrate coffee, this drink so beloved by all of us. In many parts of the world, various events are organized on this day, and many cafes offer discounts on the back of the head.

Since 2014, various events have been organized around the world in honor of coffee, even though this day had other names, such as "Coffee Day" or "National Coffee Day", and many of these events have been organized around the 29th. September.

4 coffee recipes that will fill your house with flavor:

1 Steaming coffee with cocoa

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 2 lengths of good quality cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground coffee
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Preparation:

Heat all the ingredients in a small saucepan and mix until steam comes out. Be careful not to spill coffee.

2 Coffee with vanilla and caramel

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of brewed coffee (cold or at room temperature)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 80 ml vanilla flavored coffee creamer (commercial)
  • 55 g caramel topping for ice cream (or to taste)
  • 3 cups crushed ice
  • whipped cream, optional

Preparation:

Blend all the ingredients at high speed until the ice is completely homogenous. Pour the coffee into four tall glasses and if you want, put a few tablespoons of whipped cream in each. Serve immediately.

3 Turkish coffee

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon finely ground coffee (powdered consistency)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • sugar, optional

Preparation:

Boil the water and sugar until it boils in a kettle. If you don't have a kettle, a small saucepan is just as good.

Remove from the heat, add the coffee and cardamom. Put the pot on the fire again and let it boil almost. You take it off the fire when the coffee foams. Again, put the pot on the fire and let the foam form, then remove it from the heat.

4 Gingerbread coffee

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground juniper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • boiled water
  • hot milk

Preparation:

Put all the ingredients, except water and milk, in an infuser/coffee press (which has a kind of press that goes down). Pour boiling water. Mix with a wooden stick or the handle of a wooden spoon.

Put the lid on the infuser and let the coffee brew for 4 minutes. Press that lid press like a piston and then pour the coffee into a large cup. Pour hot milk to taste.
