The sun was setting, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink as the Roy family sat on their small veranda. Arif, the eldest son, had just returned from work, and his younger sister, Rina, was helping their mother, Ayesha, prepare tea. Their father, Kamal, sat in his old wooden chair, reading the newspaper, his glasses slipping down his nose.

Life had never been easy for the Roy family, but they always found a way to stay together. Kamal worked as a schoolteacher, earning just enough to support the family. Ayesha handled the household with affection and care, using every rupee to meet their needs. Arif had recently secured a job at a local company, and Rina was in her final year of college, dreaming of becoming a teacher like her father. They didn’t have much, but they had each other, and that was enough.
One evening, as they sat together enjoying their tea, Kamal sighed deeply. "I worry about the future," he said. "Life is changing so fast. Will we ever be able to remain in this state of unity?" Arif smiled reassuringly. "Baba, we may grow older, our responsibilities may change, but we will always walk together as a family."

Rina nodded. "Yes, no matter where life takes us, we will never let go of each other’s hands."

Ayesha placed a comforting hand on her husband’s shoulder. "We have shared many storms and will continue to share many more. But as long as we stand by each other, we will always find a way."

A Storm of Challenges
However, life had its own agenda. Kamal became very ill a few weeks later. His once-strong voice, which had guided so many students, grew weak. The doctor diagnosed him with a heart condition, and he needed urgent treatment—one that required more money than they had.

The family was devastated. Ayesha tried to hide her tears as she cooked, and Rina stopped buying small treats for herself to save money. Arif worked overtime, coming home late at night, exhausted but determined. They sold some of their belongings, and even Rina’s college fund was used for her father’s treatment.

Despite the hardship, they never blamed each other. Instead, they grew even closer, supporting one another through the difficult days.
One night, as Arif sat beside his father’s bed, Kamal placed a weak hand on his son's. "Son, life will test you in many ways, but never stop walking with your family. You and I can conquer anything." Arif nodded, fighting back tears. He knew his father’s words were true.

A Ray of Hope
Just when things seemed darkest, a miracle happened. Arif’s boss, impressed by his dedication and honesty, promoted him, increasing his salary. It was just enough to continue Kamal’s treatment without sacrificing Rina’s education.

With careful budgeting and support from kind neighbors, Kamal received the treatment he needed. Though recovery was slow, he regained his strength day by day. The family still faced struggles, but they faced them together.

One evening, as they sat once again on their veranda, the air was filled with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed tea. Rina looked at her father and said, "Baba, do you remember when you asked if we would always stay together? I think we have our answer now."

Kamal exuded pride and gratitude as he grinned. "Yes, my child. Life may not always be kind, but as long as we walk together, we will always find a way."

And as the sun dipped below the horizon, the Roy family knew one thing for certain—they would always walk together, no matter what life brought their way.
