Last week I was thinking of my mother and then I realized I had been missing her for some while. It had been so long since I called her but I knew she has always prayed for me. I too do, quite a lot. I was thinking about the good and the weird times she has parented me together with my dad and I lacked words. I could not think more and so I picked my phone and called dad and told him we plan a small surprise for mother.

The surprise actually was to get mom a new phone, a smartphone actually. She had been using a one that had lost nearly all the buttons and that thing wasn't that good at holding networks anymore, they slipped through. In short let's just say she didn't have a phone anymore. So it happened it was on Wednesday afternoon and I was trekking down a busy street and I couldn't just go. I could not keep walking, I stopped and told myself, it's now and not tomorrow, am getting mom a new phone and it doesn't matter if she has no idea how to use it.

That is what I did, that same day. I had to send it home which is like 2 hours drive from the place that I work. I have never felt mom so happy and affectionate full of joy like the next day that she called me. I knew I could not see her because I could not get a chance to go home because of work but listening to her warmed my heart with fragrance of joy. She screamed over and shouted in awesome energy of love and awesomeness. That is what I wanted to hear from her. It made my day so perfect and that was the only thing that made my heart swell with a feeling of fullness that following day. I was just very thankful that she has been my mother and for all this while and she would still want to know how I was doing despite the fact I have become an adult now.

People only love what mystery brings to the table. The things they want and not what they already have. Maximal mindset has become the tribal occlusion in the need and want zone in our lives. People do not know how to be thankful for what they already have. They are so busy doing other things in their lives until very important things and people become the last things in their lives. sometimes I used to judge those people until I realized am not so different too.

I am still learning what giving thanks really means. Maybe because am too bad at doing it. I do it when a strong old memory comes to mind and it has made me forget that life is short.

It is so easy to underestimate the value of something and take it just to be something that does not need any attention. I have grown to notice that people want things they can't have or that which they do not have at the moment. The value of something unattainable or out of reach is much denser than what we already have. That is why people do not give thanks for what they have.

I always tend to have peace when I do something good to another person. I learnt that from my mother, I am going to talk about my dad tomorrow...lol, he is not left out. The doing good things to people was actually explained by my mother, my dad expressed it in action, he showed how it could be done. I have always grown to be thankful for them but today this is about mom first.

When you hear your parent thanking God for you, is actually a feeling that cannot be compared to any other. You feel a real connection of true love and gratitude from a parent. You feel a bunch of blessings every little hour and that to me is an outbreak of happiness. Sometimes I look back and it gets me thinking that mothers are really awesome people. There is a very long list to write about my mother but I do not want to write 100k words .

This is a gratitude week for me and I cannot stop thinking that my mother is the best perfect gift I received from God.
