A Letter to My Little Sister
Dear Ale, It's crazy to think that the New Year is already quickly approaching. It actually kind of scares me if i'm being honest. I have already realized that time is starting to move very quickly and it's only getting worse. The thing is, how much faster can time pass? Is that really even possible?

“Venus, if you do, I promise I always will be true; I’ll give her all the love I have to give, as long as we both shall live. Hey Venus, Oh, Venus! Make my dreams come true.” I still know all the words to this Frankie Avalon song from 1959 and that the other side of the 45, was “Bobby Socks to Stockings”, to which I remember most of the words.

Your Opinion Matters
Perhaps you’ve read “Moe’s Story” and met my baby sister Moe. If not, let me introduce you now. I grew up with a tight group of siblings. “Three of each” our parents proudly declared. For just as long as “Lean On Me” has been our ‘family song’ we’ve been there for each other. My siblings were my best friends from the day we were born, especially my sisters.

Hide and Seek in the Dark
Hide and Seek in the Dark I grew up in an unconventional household, but I have some of the best childhood memories. My mother and father were never married but he was always in my life. My mother’s best friend ran away from home when she was thirteen and my grandmother took her in, so she just became my mother’s sister and my aunt. Well my aunt had two boy’s and my mother had me and neither of them had a husband. The two “sisters” decided to move in together and raise us as siblings. So, my brothers are not connected to me by blood except for the younger one who is technically my cousin but that’s another story for another day. Now you understand the lineage I will tell you my older brother is two years and two days older than me and my younger brother is three years younger than me. This arrangement worked for the “sisters” because my mom graduated from college and had a good job that allowed her to provide for the family and my aunt was able to stay home and take care of us rambunctious kids so they didn’t have to pay for child care. One of my favorite stories is our infamous game of hide and seek in the dark which resulted in a call to 9-1-1 and a visit from the local police and the paramedics.

Boys will be Boys
I had an enchanting childhood... I wish I could say the same of adulthood... Craig and I were on an insatiable quest for adventure. It wasn't merely a desire to "do something" or "eradicate boredom"; we had discovered there was a world, and we were compelled by some abstruse, unidentifiable force to explore it...all of it!

Girls Weekend
As the youngest of four girls within six years, my sisters and I are all very close. This wasn’t always the case, there was plenty of clothes and boyfriend stealing, as you can imagine, but as we’ve gotten older and more mature (ha ha), we’ve become best friends.

The Back
It’s strange to think about how different life was back in 2006. For me, it seems like an entirely different life altogether. I was eight years old, my sister would have been ten, and my younger brother, Daniel, was barely two. We’d often spend our days running amuck on the seventy-two-acre property. There was an abundance of opportunities for summer swimming activities in the creeks which weaved through the property. But on the rare days we weren’t outside, we would find things to entertain ourselves with indoors.
