parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
Strength Through the Times
This is a letter to Heaven, hoping to reach you in thought, just like I do every day. this is something that should have been written a long time ago. I should have taken the time to ensure nobody forgot where we all came from and who was here before us.

To My Songbird
We’re from the Motor City: Detroit, Michigan; but we're built Holt Tough. Four children, who have matured into adults, under your tutelage. My Mommy, the strongest woman I know, born on Christmas Day, 1956. You spoke your mind and had courage a million, in all you put your hands to. You gave me the courage to become a lifelong learner, as I read your college sociology books to you in the second grade, so you could get a better understanding of what you had studied for hours already and take notes. You had dyslexia but you never let that hold you back from reaching for your dreams and pushing your children to excel toward theirs. Even when others thought you couldn't or shouldn't pursue your dreams, you talked very little and always shocked your naysayers with your results. You often called me your "Rock" because I remained solid no matter what and never stepped back from telling you the truth. This is the strength you gave me raised me to have and stand with.

How I Will Remember My Mother
My mother has taught me many things. One of them was to live in fear. For years symptoms of agoraphobia have lingered somewhere in the background of my life, trying to keep me down. The cause of agoraphobia remains unclear but it is believed that a major role played is environmental factors. I know exactly where it came from.

Dear Lynda
Dear Lynda, Words are something I don't normally struggle with. From a young age, you liked to poke fun at my need to always dominate a conversation. As I grew up, one of the first thing I would tell people about me is "I talk too much". Even as an adult, at 40, I still talk to much.

Wonder Woman
Dear Mom, You are my hero! There are so many times I sit back and wonder how you do it. Being a single mother, working, and supporting each of your kids dreams, only someone with special powers can do something like that. Growing up was tough. Coming from a place where it is easier to join a gang than it is to join a after school program, you were the one who kept me focused and protected me as a kid. I am forever grateful for that.

Georgia Sun
Dear Mom, I don’t know if you’d remember this, but when I was a little girl and we still lived in Georgia, I fell down the hardwood steps once. I started crying when I hit the landing, and you tiredly walked over to sit beside me on the floor and take me into your arms. Your body language said you were trying to be comforting, rubbing a hand up and down my arm, but your words felt like tough love.

mom and daughter
Dear MOM, There were so many things left unsaid. I only wish you were still here so I could share all these moments with you. I have accomplished so many milestones, and I only wished you were still here so I could share them with you. Mom, you were the only person I could tell everything to, and I never had to worry about you judging me.

Dear Shabi, Let's Take a Walk
Dear Mom, Mum. Mummy. Amma. I am to write a letter to the strongest woman I know. And like hundreds(a wild, accurate guess) of others, the first woman that popped up in my mind was my mother. Is that so surprising? Like many, I grew up close to a strong female personality- my beloved mom. You. So, no. I don't find that surprising at all.
