parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
Trusting me, Mom
I came from a family of eight children. Both my parents were Thailand refugees and came to the United States during a horrid secret war in the 1980s, whom our folks were allied with U.S. CIA to help the soldiers with navigating the terrain and jungles on their special operations. In return, they helped our people with food, weaponry, shelter, and safety. However, that will have to be another story unfold. All I know is that I was fortunate enough to be born in the states and grow up as an American. Aside, from that my mother has always been the person I look up to and she has made me realized so much about who I am today.

Don't Lick the Car
At my parent’s home, I walked past their microwave, being used as a landing pad for a magnetic hummingbird. Par for the course, it wasn’t just a flat, one-dimensional magnet. It was a full-fledged, close to life size hummingbird with wings in full flight and flaccid tongue emerging from its beak. I was compelled to touch the projection in the presence of my Mom. “You just had to touch it, didn’t you?” were the only words she uttered as she stepped out onto the deck, nary a second of eye contact.

Everything Changes
“The only thing that stays the same is that everything changes.” A quote by someone but boy was I ever intimately familiar with that concept. I had already moved several times in my young life. Up until fifth grade most had been before I was five and so didn’t significantly impact my life. That was until the Fall of 2005 when we had to move from Minnesota to Oklahoma. Mom and Dad had really rubbed salt in the wounds with that one. Not only did they make us move states but we also had to move on Halloween night. My older brother and I didn’t get to trick or treat one last time in our small newly developed neighborhood full of new young families. It was the ideal place growing up. We were safe to walk by ourselves and most houses had kids so participated in holidays like Halloween. Making it the ideal place to go door to door getting candy from strangers. That move however wasn’t even the biggest change to happen in my life, merely a precursor.

Parents Have The Power
Introduction Sometimes the current perspective that a person has about another causes them to pre-judge them. People may pigeonhole them by assuming that their destiny is limited. This is what happens when high expectations dominate a person’s mindset. It causes them to believe in the potential of others.

The Weeks of the Cult. Top Story - September 2021.
A week before my junior year of high school I picked out the all-important first day of school outfit. The outfit that would set the tone for the rest of the year. Like, the effortlessly cool girls would look cool no matter what, but I really had to work at what and who I wanted to be. This outfit could make or break me.

21st Century Fathers Are Awesome. Top Story - September 2021.
The Family Backstory As I parked my car at the mall a short time ago, I saw a lovely sight. A father stood at the opened hatchback of his SUV changing the diaper of his infant. I further observed him talk to and play with his baby as he carefully secured its onesie. The father appeared to enjoy these priceless moments with his precious tiny one.
