Becoming a grandparent makes getting older something to look forward to - all the fun of parenting, without the hassle.
Grandma And Glitter
For as long as I can remember I have loved glitter. I mean heck why not? A little sparkle just adds a smile to things in my opinion and I have been glistening up things for years. Whenever I get my nails done in a salon I pick a pretty neutral color then have the manicurist top it off with some twinkle and it just pops! I love glimmer for formal wear and complimentary pieces to add in to my wardrobe. It is just so much fun to me and especially so during the Christmas holiday season. When everyone else is complaining about glitter all over the floor and carpet from ornaments, tinsel, wrappings and whatnot, I just buzz around the house humming while I vacuum. Glitter just never completely cleans up and I always giggle to myself thinking it is just completely awesome!

My Past
I was seventeen years old when my grandfather passed away. When I was little, he was my superhero, so I followed him around where ever he went, I was not too far behind. I did not much care for the rest of my family, however, and spent a majority of my childhood arguing with them. When he passed away, I lost the foundation for everything I had. But I was not the only one. My grandmother suffered as a result of this too, having spent almost fifty years of her life by his side. It was a very dark time for my family.

Deer Season
The sun rose and began its languid trip around the sky. Its light stretched among the woods, finding hidden spaces, covering others in new shadows. Dawn’s warm yellow glow didn’t capture the way the frigid air stopped your breath, or how on really early mornings if you didn’t keep the air in your mouth for a little while it would sting your lungs. On November mornings, the world was still quiet.

Grandad
I met a grand father who was born in Italy and raised in Philadelphia. He told me about his uncle's speak easy and how he was raised there as he worked there after school and on weekends. It was warm, rich, extremely cozy and felt safe, even when it was packed with bodies; even with some colorful characters.

SELF-LOVE
"This post I wrote for you Grandpa, the model, my model of true love." "I was looking for something to write about it, an old friend told me, write about self-love, well, how could I not talk about grandpa, the man that showed me to never settle for less than pure love"

Dealing With Loss
Pretty much all of us know how this feels. We get close to someone whether it be all our lives, within the past few years, or just recently. We get to know them, and they become a huge part of our every day lives. Then the inevitable occurs, and we aren't sure how to handle it.

The Taylor Homestead
This is the Taylor “homestead” in Alderson, West Virginia. It’s been in the family for generations. And now, it’s for sale. It sits on 53 acres, and my parents (who are now in their 70’s and have lived there for 21 years) are finding it increasingly hard to maintain. 😔
