grandparents
Becoming a grandparent makes getting older something to look forward to - all the fun of parenting, without the hassle.
Secret Stash
It was a dark and peculiar night in frigid February. A storm was anticipated through Tuesday afternoon. The wind had picked up, rattling the old front windows. I could feel the draft as I opened the drapes to peek out. I could see a set of footprints on the path out front. They continued along the length of the driveway, up the stairs and onto the porch.

Never Will
Katherine is coming to visit. Dress up! Charles smiled at the page and set the little black book back down on the nightstand. He glanced at himself once more in the mirror and smirked as he admired his outfit: black slacks with a purple shirt tucked in and a grey blazer over it. Topping it off was his favorite grey trilby with a purple floral bandanna wrapped around it.

Grandmother's Secret
Her mother couldn't face the task and her uncle refused to help so Eloise was stuck with cleaning out her grandmother's house so it could be sold. Her uncle had gone so far as to say that he didn't need anything from "that woman" when she was alive so why would he want anything of hers now.

Return to Sender
I think I have perfect Karma. Things happen in such a way, that when something bad happens, something equally good happens as well; it’s always been this way. When I was eight, some neighborhood punk stole my bike; the next day I found an Egyptian God card in a new Yugioh pack. In Highschool I failed a math test; after school I nailed a kickflip for the first time. Right now, I’m on a plane back home from my grandpa’s funeral; I’m also 20,000 dollars richer.

Time and Fortune
This was a moment in time that I never wanted to face. That phone call from the nursing home where my grandmother had been fighting her battle with breast cancer was happening. Not wanting to answer and hear bad news, I let it ring at least five times before answering. Looking at the caller I.D. one last time, I pressed the button.

It's a Lock
Word count 1725 It’s a Lock By Bridgett Anderson I dropped out of college in my last year. I was trying to get a business degree, but I was struggling. When my PawPaw needed my help, I was quick to head home. I didn’t know my dad and my mom died of an accidental overdose on heroin over 10 years ago. PawPaw was all the close family that I had left. He was getting sicker. I spent many months helping him with the toilet and feeding him meals. A month ago, he had to go into a long-term care place. I got the call this morning that he died. Old age, 60 years of smoking and drinking, one too many a fais-dodo. He had a great life.
