The Boy Who said Goodbye
Who did the mess? 'Why did you put all the clothes on the floor?' Screeched mum with utter frustration. Well you couldn't blame her. She walked into the bedroom and guess what she found? All the clothes are out of the drawer and scattered all over the carpet and there he was, the alleged criminal, little Ivan.

Oh, Captain, My Captain
When I was a kid, I didn’t think much about the kind of dad I would someday become. I was too busy daydreaming and doing the stuff that young boys do in their prepubescent years to think about such distant things. My own father was an unknown, faceless stranger whom I had met only one afternoon when I was sixteen, but never really got to know until I turned thirty and was about to be a father for the first time, myself.

Step parents, Hero's on Call
When my mother and father first divorced I adjusted to it in a strange way. My dolls in my dollhouse never had the dad, he always lived in a shoe box or on a shelf in my closet. Other than that I was fine with adjusting to having to go to my fathers every other weekend and only having a stuffed dog and a box of crayons at his house. But my mother told me something when I got older that I thought was strange and a little sweet. I never wanted my mom to marry again because I thought that meant they would leave us. Now I know that is common for young children to assume. My mother ended up with this man who later became my step dad and like most step parents, you don't truly see them for how amazing they can be until you're grown up.

Absent
ABSENT I held the picture in my hand, the only picture I had left to remember her face. It had been torn, burned, and ripped but I still took it everywhere I went. The woman in the picture that I constantly stared at with longing desperation, is my Mother. Now, I say mother but she didn’t raise me, in fact I have never met her or even heard her voice. A mission or journey I should say is what I embarked on, that scorching summer day in June. Summer in California makes you feel as if your blood is boiling, but I was fixed on her. The woman in the picture, the woman with the dark eyes and Raven Black hair, and I too have these exquisite traits . Up until this day I was made to believe that I was different; Deceived, lied to, and trapped in a life that was truly never mine. On the back of the picture were too small words, Don’s Diner.

I’m Adopted!
The coolest fact about me is that I am adopted. For some reason people think that’s really rare and interesting. I guess I don’t see it as interesting because it was a normal thing for me. I always knew that another woman gave birth to me and gave me and my sister up so we could have better lives. It is something that I am very thankful for because my life growing up was amazing. I had two parents who loved me even though I wasn’t their’s biologically. They gave my sister and I the best life possible! Fun fact: my sister and I are actual blood sisters, adopted from the same family, but at different times! Kind of cool, right?

An Ode to the Moms
The first mom I ever encountered was of course, my mom, Real Mom, the woman who birthed me, the source of my being, the story from which I was written, the greater book to my singular page. She will always be the first and the last, the greatest, closest to an angel in human form and built with resilience so strong to handle the hardest of times, the deepest of troubles. She is the rock, the unchanging stability that lasts forever as seasons change and change back again, she is sturdy and still. As I grow up, she is never replaced, only added to, and the sum of everyone else’s efforts could not add up to hers when it comes to the giant equation of pluses and minuses that is my life.

Coping with Difficult Puberty Your Kid Is Going Through
Going through puberty is one of the biggest challenges for a child, but for the parents too. Even though all the changes are happening to the kid, the entire family will suffer the consequences of the adolescent’s behaviour. Puberty hits between the ages of 11 and 15, depending on the sex of the child and their individual maturity, so if you’re having trouble handling your pubescent offspring, you’ll need a few pointers to help you along the way.

My Wife Left Me for A Woman
In September 2012, I met the woman who would eventually become my wife. We immediately hit it off. We were young, she was 23 and I was 29. We bought our first home together within a year and married within two. We "had it all", as we advanced in our careers. In 2016, our first daughter was born. Our second daughter was born in 2018.
