How Did I Get Here?
At 56 years of age, divorced three times, two of them from the same person, yes I married my abusive-second husband twice, no savings, no formal education, unemployed, with a very dismal outlook on my future, the only fitting question is, how the hell did I get here?

Life of a Special Needs Mom
As I sit here with drink in hand and listening to sappy music, I think "Why am I not happy?" I think about my life. All the ups and downs. All the shit that went down in the last decade. The last decade was hard. I didn't cope well. I had pity parties every other day alone in my backyard or on the sofa late at night. I have felt guilty every day.

The Brief Cycle
21 years and 8 months and I am still terrified. It comes in flashes and waves and I could be at work or in bed and I still stop and wonder if I am like her. Conversations will send me flying back and all of a sudden it hits me that I am being too loud, talking too much, if I could just time travel and take those last 30 seconds back and say something different.

A Love I've Never Known Before
All of my friends had a gang of children by the time they were in their mid 30's. I, on the other hand, had zero. For some reason I never felt that calling to be a mother. As a child I don't remember every playing with dolls where I took care of them like real babies. I mostly had stuffed animals and I loved cats and kittens. I guess I just did not have that maternal instinct like others did.

The Beginning Of Darkness
Hello, My name is Selena Phillips. I was incarcerated on October 26th, 2015 and I left my son Elijah Phillips in the care and custody of his godmother, Mrs. Priscilla Saunders. On October 27th, 2015, I was informed that Children And Youth Services had taken my son into their custody and placed him with a foster family in York. My son was taken from his school in Columbia, PA and they refused to return him to his godmother because she was not a blood relative.I suffered a panic attack that day and was put in solitary confinement for several days until I was able to see the psychiatrist. After being evaluated and put on medication, I pulled myself together and started going to church and took every class and group they offered.

Dear Lucas (2020)
Today is election day in the United States of America. As people read this, their minds will be elsewhere. They will be thinking of all that is at stake tonight and for the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. Someone will win. Someone will lose. America’s unofficial sport will shift its focus. Some will play offense. Some will play defense. The beat that is American democracy will go on methodically until the next contest.

Ordinary but extraordinary father
I have always wanted to write about my father, but I couldn’t find the right time to describe his "road". This road is not reachable by any car. It is not a concrete stone road, but a section of it. The hard time, under the shroud of that time, was the tuition and miscellaneous expenses of the two young children, and the hard-working rice of that year with the mother carrying a heavy basket. The father came here with the "time machine". But no traveler on the way back was found.
