Blue Tiled Roof House
I turned around in my bed trying to find a comfortable position to fall sleep. I rested my back against the soft mattress and the linen sheets and I felt my head sink in the feathered pillow. All was perfect inside my room. I could smell lavender from my recently washed pajama set and the nightlight beside my bed reflected a dimmed light that allowed me to see only the silhouettes of the things that took up space in my bedroom. I closed my eyes and sighed pleased at the silence and allowed the weariness of the day to lull me into a deep sleep.

Blood Jewel Hills
MAGIC ISN'T ALWAYS FAIRY DUST Boozizi woke up before the sun peered over the hills. The tiny chi-mah-shas chirped loudly from the window, echoing their soothing songs throughout his room. Chi-mah-shas were colorful songbirds with chirps that harmonized eventfully; during mating season their songs were celebratory and soothing like a symphony. Boozizi took a deep breath and stretched. His bones cracked, releasing tension.

The Eyes of Love
As the dust rose from the tires of the departing hearse from Whitman’s funeral home as it headed down the drive, I stumbled away from the big house with its wrap-around porch and the swing where my grandmother had spent hours telling me about her life growing up on the farm as we shelled peas and strung beans. With eyes blinded by tears and the bright sunlight, I picked my way across the yard to the old barn. The animals had long been moved to the big new barn and the place where Grandma had taught me to milk a cow while the barn cat wove in and around our legs was empty now, except for the mice who nested in the hay bales that had remained, serving as a reminder of the activity that had once imbued the place with life.

Joy Disarrayed by Sorrow
Mice scampered through the tall grass prairie gathering seeds in their cheeks. A rabbit nibbled on a root; its ears twitched toward the hushed kisses amidst the rustling grass. Moon beams dripped down tall stocks of big blue stem and pooled on a plaid blanket revealing entangled legs and the curled toes of adolescent bliss.

Statistics It comes as no surprise that human beings, unlike most mammals, normally only give birth to one child at a time. However, the possibility to become pregnant with more than one child at any one given time is possible. Some have claimed that it skips a generation while others are the first to ever have been reported in their families.

Selfless
Lily was sitting on the carpet in the living room, the light of the golden sun gleamed through the broken blinds and illuminated the VHS tapes that sat anxiously on the towering book shelves. She traced her finger along their binds enjoying the smooth texture and the little waves that each new tape created under her finger tip, 'Which one should we watch today?' she thought to herself. As she extended her arm to reach for one of her favorites, she heard a loud crash from the kitchen. Suddenly followed by a loud roar of voices and she knew that something bad was about to happen. The roaring grew louder and the crashing more frequent and she began to panic. Lily raced through the house to the furthest corner, smothered her hands over her ears and she began to hum. She squeezed her eyes shut and she rocked herself until the sound was only a whisper in the distance.
