Once upon a time there was a great and powerful dragon who went back and forth to all the holy men in this land and even some across the sea. This dragon was on a diet of
vegetables and water, eating red meat once a week and never any people. She went back and forth and back and forth collecting rosaries and listening to jokes collected
by monks and priests. The clergymen all thought the dragon was a bit terrifying travelling to one monastery, to the other church, to the witchdoctor, to the wise man,
and so on, even visiting the rabbit, but they knew she had made a vow not to eat any people so they let her in and took her golden tithes. Once she had a medallion
she could not give up to the desert friars and so instead she had it blessed.
The monks said a few words and dabbed it with some water, "Audrey, what good is a lucky medallion for a rabbit?" asked the monk when he was finished.
"I don't know." said the dragon, "But I have kept grandpa with me this whole time, I think it's time for rabbit to carry the spirit so let him go with the
medallion. I promise I won't eat any people. Amen."
The monk laughed and said, "Good riddance to bad rubbish, Audrey, that's what good a lucky medallion is to a rabbit... All this mumbo jumbo about spirits, I don't know
Dragons have magic powers they say."
When the dragon had crossed the sea to visit the witch doctor she had had some drums made and when she was in the desert once before she bought a clay idol. Other times
she just brought back rosaries or prayer beads, all of which, even the drums, were accepted by the rabbit because he would not take gold tithes. So he stored them under
sinks and in closets, but when the dragon brought rabbit the medallion he stored it in his wallet for he was greedy.
"Whence comest thou?" asked the rabbit when the dragon made her way to his Burnzidab(a type of church or synagogue made for rabbits resembling a modern dance hall).
"From going to and fro, back and forth over the earth, walking up and down in it." replied the dragon with a chuckle, "I had the medallion blessed by the best in the
desert, I hope it brings you good luck."
"I, being a rabbit, am already quite lucky. For example I have two left feet, but both are lucky and I have not even lost one in a boot dagger knife fight. I am only
year of the rabbit, though. When women are born in the year, day, hour and minute of the rabbit I hear Medusa is born. What says the witch doctor?" said rabbit
"Eight rabbit ears makes sixteen snakes and one ox, one snake and two rabbits make gorgonzola. Something like that."
"Make gorgons of law. Prosecutors are best when born in the year of the ox, day of the snake and hour and minute of the rabbit. All the mythical creatures are people,
dragon, just like you. A medusa is a woman who is so lucky she has wealth, beauty, wit, and youth. A gorgon and a medusa make a powerful team indeed, the witch doctor
was right."
"But I am a mighty dragon and you are a little rabbit, you may be lucky, but I am more powerful than you. More powerful than Israel and Jezebael who are like cheese
and wine to dragons."
"You may be more powerful, but luck has no limit- it's never too late to get lucky- and you must not eat people. You are year of the dragon, but what about the day,
hour and minute?
"Day of the dog, hour of the rabbit, minute of the tiger." lied the dragon.
"A dragon that is loyal, lucky and nocturnal? Marduk is a mighty owl like you, Audrey."
Audrey didn't ask rabbit what his day hour and minute because she being his grandmother, already knew. So she left the medallion with rabbit and went to visit the wise
man while rabbit went to a burnzidab that was like a manger and saw his friend, Tim, another monkish man who said to rabbit when he revealed his lucky coin, "Shall I
bless it for you? I have that power, y'know. Me and the mother teresa had a chat and so here I am."
"Didn't I tell you it was already blessed? Can you bless something twice? Whatever, do your thing." said the rabbit being greedy for blessings and good fortune.
"Can a seed sprout twice? And so it is with blessings, amen." said Tim after waving the medallion in the air.
