A Twelve-Month Pictorial of Isabel
Rick Henry Christopher's Mom

I have an unusual relationship with my mom. We have always been very close. When I was twelve years old I would put my nose up against my mom's nose and talk with her face to face. Whenever we'd go to a store I would escort her arm in arm into the store as if I were escorting Miss America across the red carpet.
I love my mom with all my heart and soul. Now that she is 87 years old, blind, and in the throes of dementia my love for her has only heightened. She is a wonderful giving person. She always thinks about the comfort of those around her. She will give up her meal just to make sure the other person is fed.
This Twelve-Month pictorial is in honor of the most beautiful person I have ever had the honor of knowing. The photos range from December 2022 to November 2023.

This photo from December 2022 is one of my favorite photos of her. She looks like an Italian actress of the 1960s. Before I took the picture she said, "Rick, I feel very pretty." I responded by telling her that she wasn't just pretty but beautiful.

The red hairband my mom is wearing was a gift from a good friend named Roxana. This photo was taken on the front porch of our house. December 2022.

Mom with our friend Jenn Lonmon. Jenn is a rock star from South Africa. She is the lead singer with the South African band Little Sister. I will have more info on that a little later in this article. Jenn cared for my mom for six months in 2022.

The green beads and green gown accent my mom's skin tone very well. She looks like a rock star. Maybe Jenn Lonmon and her sister might have a spot with her in Little Sister.

Shall we call her the Queen. When she had this outfit on my mom held her head up high as if she were royalty. She told me she felt special. Notice the leopard pattern on the sleeves.

Mom loves wearing her Home Depot cap, especially when we visit Roxana at The Home Depot.

Mom looks rather chic wearing her pink leopard patterened gown.

She looks good in blue. Mom enjoys wearing caps and hats of all types. This one gives her a 1920s sort of look. I think she looks rather cute.

I love my little momma!!! She is only 4 foot 11 and weighs 100 pounds. She is a one of a kind!!!

This is a portrait of a photo taken in December 2022. Our good friend Jenn Lonmon made the protrait out of beads. She said it took her quite a bit of time to do it. When she gave it to me I broke down in tears. It is such a beautiful work. Jenn is such a special friend. The photo on the left is me in 1978. The one on the right is my deceased brother Chris in 1980.

Momma ended up in the hospital on September 30, 2023 with covid. She was there for 2 1/2 days. Fortunately the covid did not hit her too hard and the treatments worked pretty fast.

I love my mom. Here we are nose to nose liked we used to do when I was a preteen.

Mom looking glamorous even with her hair tussled.

The shiny blue and gold headband is made out of gift wrapping ribbon. I try to be crafty and creative when dressing her up for an afternoon on the town. I feel this photo shows off my mom's indigeinous side quite a bit.

I hope you have enjoyed this pictorial of my lovely mom; she is truly a gem. She has always put other people first. I can remember back around 1990 when my mom, my brother, and I were driving to a local restaurant for lunch. On the sidewalk was a lady with her two little children holding a sign that said, "Hungry We Need Food." My mom said, "I know that lady. I've given her food before." She had my brother pull the car over and asked the lady if she was going to be there for very long. The lady said she would probably be out there for another hour. My mom had us go to the grocery store, and she purchased six bags of groceries, which we took back to the lady. The lady was in tears when we gave them to her.
