Beautiful places to visit in Kenya

By Freddy Published 3 years ago 3 min read

Kenya is located in East Africa, bordered by Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the northwest, Ethiopia to the north, and the Indian Ocean to the east. It is famous for being home to some of the best wildlife reserves in the world, and for being the birthplace of the legendary marathon runner, Eliud Kipchoge.

Kenya is home to over 50 different tribes, each with their unique customs, traditions and language. This diversity gives Kenya a unique appeal and makes it an exciting destination to visit.

One of the best things about visiting Kenya is the wildlife experience. The Maasai Mara game reserve, which is the most popular among the reserves in Kenya, is home to the Big Five – Lions, Leopards, Rhinoceroses, Elephants and Buffalos. Other wildlife that can be found in Kenya's game reserves include zebras, giraffes, baboons, hyenas, jackals, wildebeests, and cheetahs.

Another thing that makes Kenya unique and attractive is the fact that it has the world's second-largest migration of wildebeests. The migration occurs in the Maasai Mara game reserve and involves millions of wildebeests and other animals moving from Tanzania's Serengeti National Park to Kenya's Maasai Mara. The migration has become a major tourist attraction, and visitors can witness the animals crossing the Mara River in large numbers.

Kenya is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The Kenyan coastline is generally warm and sunny, with pristine sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters and plenty of water sports available. Among Kenya's top beaches is Diani beach in Mombasa, which is known to be the best beach in Africa.

To experience Kenya's beauty and culture, here are 5 tourism sites to visit in Kenya:

1. Maasai Mara game reserve: This is Kenya's most popular game reserve, located in Narok County, between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. The game reserve is famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, which takes place annually, from July to October. Visitors can witness the massive herds of wildebeests, which move from Tanzania's Serengeti to Kenya's Maasai Mara, in search of water and grazing land. Tourists can also enjoy game drives and hot air balloon safaris.

2. Amboseli National Park: This park is famous for its large herds of elephants and its magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. The park is located in Kajiado County, near the Tanzanian border. Visitors can go on game drives, guided nature walks, and bird watching.

3. Lake Nakuru National Park: This park is located in the Rift Valley province, about 160km northwest of Nairobi. It is famous for its large number of pink flamingos that flock to the lake to feed on the algae. The park is also home to over 450 bird species, as well as other wildlife such as white and black rhinos, leopards, giraffes, buffalos, and zebras. Visitors can go on game drives, bird watching, and guided nature walks.

4. Lamu Island: Lamu Island is located in the northeast of Kenya, near the Somali border. It is one of the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlements in East Africa. The island's narrow streets, traditional houses, and historical buildings are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can experience the island's rich Swahili culture and architecture, take a tour of the town, and enjoy the island's beautiful beaches.

5. Tsavo East National Park: This park is one of the largest game reserves in Kenya, located in Taita-Taveta County, about 220km from Nairobi. It is famous for its large herds of elephants and its diverse wildlife, including lions, buffalos, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and many others. The park is also home to the Galana River, where visitors can enjoy boat safaris, fishing, and canoeing. Visitors can also go on guided nature walks and night game drives.

In conclusion, Kenya is an amazing destination to visit, with its diverse culture, wildlife, and beautiful beaches. With the Maasai Mara game reserve, Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lamu Island, and Tsavo East National Park, visitors are sure to have a memorable experience in Kenya.
