The Thirsty Crow

A Clever Bird’s Smart Solution to a Big Problem

By Muhammad Usama Published 9 months ago 2 min read

It was a hot summer afternoon. The sun was blazing in the sky, and everything on the ground was dry and still. Trees were shedding their leaves, the grass had turned brown, and the heat was unbearable. Birds and animals were hiding in their shelters to escape the heat. Among them was a clever little crow who had been flying for hours in search of water.

The crow was very thirsty. His throat was dry, and his wings were tired. He flew from place to place, tree to tree, and field to field, hoping to find some water. But there was none to be found. The lakes had dried up, the ponds were empty, and even the rivers had only muddy patches. The crow began to feel hopeless, but he did not give up. He knew that giving up would mean losing his life. So, he gathered all his strength and kept flying.

Finally, after a long and tiring flight, he saw a small garden from above. Hoping that he might find water there, he flew down and landed in the garden. He looked around and saw a clay pot lying near a tree. With great excitement, the crow flew to the pot and peeked inside. Yes! There was water in the pot. But unfortunately, the water was very low at the bottom, and the crow's beak could not reach it.

The crow tried to tilt the pot, but it was too heavy. He pushed it from one side and then the other, but it didn’t move. He was disappointed for a moment. But being a clever and determined bird, he began to think. "How can I get to the water?" he asked himself. He didn’t want to waste the only chance he had to survive.

As he looked around, he noticed small pebbles lying on the ground. An idea suddenly struck him. He remembered something he had seen before — when you drop stones in water, the water level rises. Without wasting any time, he picked up one pebble with his beak and dropped it into the pot. Then he picked another and dropped it in. He kept doing this again and again. Slowly, the water level started to rise. The more pebbles he dropped, the higher the water came.

After a lot of effort and patience, the water level finally reached the top of the pot. The crow was overjoyed. He bent down and drank the cool, fresh water. It quenched his thirst, and he felt strong and happy again. The crow looked up at the sky and felt proud of his clever thinking. He had turned a difficult situation into a successful one using his intelligence and determination.

Once he was satisfied, he flapped his wings and flew away cheerfully. He knew that life was full of challenges, but if one stayed calm and thought wisely, any problem could be solved.

Moral of the Story: Where there is a will, there is a way.

This story teaches us that intelligence, patience, and effort can solve even the most difficult problems. The crow didn’t give up when he was faced with a challenge. Instead, he used his brain and worked hard to achieve his goal. Just like the crow, we too must stay determined in life and face our difficulties with courage and smart thinking.
