To graduate during a pandemic
The graduate in your life half smiles and looks away before answering your question, “how are you feeling about commencement being postponed/canceled?” Their head may shake once or twice, as they respond that commencement was never the important part anyways. That it sucks, but hey, they didn’t like being in front of a crowd to begin with. Your graduate will chuckle like it’s a joke when they say they’ll save almost $70 on a cap and gown. You will tell them, “Things will be better soon,” and the subject will go on to face masks or how boring it’s been and you’re assured that they are alright.

Without a doubt in my mind, I feel as though I have finally found the answer to the question that seems to befall every book lover: who is your favorite author? I have always struggled with this question because I have always enjoyed such a variety of authors and genres, but I have finally figured it out--Andrew Smith. Andrew Smith has woven his way into my heart, and he has taken on the title of my favorite author.

Advice to a boy lonely in college
One day, one of these lockdown days, you’ll come back to your hostel room in downtown Montreal, switch on the lights, and look down upon the evening lights of Sherbrooke Avenue far below — and you’ll suddenly feel utter loneliness.

College mental health
I am a 1st year sophomore at Oregon State University in the undergraduate physics program, many people believe I have everything figured out, but I don't. I don't really think anyone knows exactly what they want to do with their lives. We all seem to just be floating on a river directed toward a waterfall and we just have to coast along making the best of our ride until we meet our demise. Our decisions may lead us on different paths but we all end up with the same fate, riding down that dang waterfall. I originally wanted to double major in business and fine arts, but I fell in love with physics my senior year of high school. School is probably stressful for everyone, not only is it a big financial investment, it is a lot of time and effort. It's a huge stressor, you decide to study something that you might end up hating which wastes time and money, It's difficult. I am on the same boat.

Apps, Tips and Tricks for Learning a New Language (The Fun Way)
We all know that flash of motivation you get when you feel inspired to learn a new language. Maybe you've seen a social media post and admired how beautifully someone speaks, or seen a clip on TV and reminded yourself that you should get around to learning that new language you've been meaning to start. There are so many different programs and resources out there that teach languages, but often they can be filled with topics and information that isn't really interesting or relevant to you, or perhaps you just really don't enjoy the style of learning they provide. When I was in my first year of university, I made it my goal to learn a new language, but in my own way. I was traumatised by two-hour long middle school classes where we were drilled with grammar and vocabulary in seemingly the most tedious ways possible, while I sat there wondering why I ever took that subject. When I made that goal in my first year of university, I wanted to learn a language at my own pace, in my own way, with topics I was interested in, and to slowly build my way up from there. I have just finished my degree at the end of last year, and although I'm not yet fluent, I am confident in my skills and have moved on to advanced topics and studies, working my way up to fluency, and for the most part, I did this all for free and on my own. Sounds too good to be true? Here's how I did it.
