I have been fascinated by weather my entire life. This is going to be about some phenomenon that never cease to amaze me. Things like tornados and hurricanes are also really cool, but I am going to talk about the rarer phenomenon.

Asperities Clouds

These clouds look like choppy waves in the sky. They are most seen after a thunderstorm. They form when there is instability in atmosphere. Air is displaced upwards then due to gravity falls down. Causing a wave shape. I love these they look so cool and captivate my imagination as I think of planes looking like old ships. Click here to learn more.

Thundersnow

Thundersnow is soooo cool. I have experienced it multiple times living in rural America. It is when lighting and thunder occur while snowing. It is caused the instability that makes thunderstorms thrive exists in a snowstorm. Normally it occurs when there is extremely heavy snowfall and when the storm is up against a warm front. Here is a video of Jim Cantore experiencing thundersnow. Click here to learn more.

Blood Red Rain

This rain is SO cool. It is RED. Now there is many reasons this happens. Dust storms, algae blooms, or industrial emissions are the main causes. It normally happens around arid or mostly arid places that don't see rain very often. Which causes the red tint in the rain. I would love to see this with my own eyes someday. Here is a video on a mountain and here is one in a city. Click here to learn more.

Volcanic Lightning

This is such a cool phenomenon. The lightning is caused by the electrical discharge in the air after a eruption. It is bolts and sparks within the ash cloud. This is kind of scary but massively cool. Here is a video. Click here to learn more.

St. Elmo's Fire

Is a rare type of lighting that glows bluish. It is normally caused by a strong electrical field. It normally is attracted to metal objects like aircraft or ships. Click here to see a video. Here is more information.

Snow Rollers

Is a rare phenomenon where wind forms a cylindrical snowballs. Natural snow rollers happen when there is a layer of ice of hard snow followed by wet, loose snow and steady winds around 40mph. They are so cool looking. I hope to witness this one day. Here is a video. Here is more information.

Glowing Waves

I'll admit this ones not really weather, but it is super cool. The waves glow bright blue due to tiny marine organisms. They admit light due to a chemical reaction that is kicked off by movement. This would be so cool to see. Click here for a video! Here is more information.

There is so many more things that happen in this world. They are all super cool. Weather has always fascinated me if you are also fascinated check out the NOAA website. They have tons and tons of weather content. Another place to look into is the weather channel. They have a bunch of shows and information on different types of weather. One of my favorites is weather gone viral. You can watch clips HERE or on Fubo.

Authors note: I have another article about cool weather linked HERE. I didn't cover anything here that I did in that one. I will definitely be making more of this type of content so stay tuned. If you have any suggestions please leave me a comment with the topic and I'll definitely consider it. Thank you for reading.
