The war also led to renewed calls within South Asia for a regional de-escalation framework and the strengthening of communication channels to prevent accidental escalation.

Importantly, the war sparked domestic debates in both countries. In India, opposition leaders criticized the government for what they called a hasty escalation. In Pakistan, protests erupted over military transparency and the toll on civilian life. The appetite for peace among the general population appeared stronger than ever.
