People Think There is More Than One Country Named America & Americans Are Everyone In The Area of the America(S)

On my first trip to Africa where I met with my now husband's immediate family, I wondered why Kenyans called America 'The States" (the Republic of Kenya is called Kenya)
It was odd but I ignored it initially. Then on my Facebook feed I noticed a popular Black American page I followed, claiming there were several countries called America.
I read the comments and couldn't believe that American teachers were claiming they teach their students not to say America. Their reasoning was that there were several countries called America and there were Americans in other countries.
She didn't mean migrants, she was speaking of the area called the Americas. Which is a combination of the 2 continents of North & South America, that includes Central America and the Caribbean Islands.
According to this logic people from Guatemala and Canada would be Americans, living in America. Instead of Guatemalan and Canadian, living in their perspective countries.
There was a recent story about Canadian born rapper Drake, he found out about his father's DNA results. He then took to social media claiming he was 30% Nigerian. Which would be incorrect if this was his father's DNA and not his.
However the South African news outlet called Drake the American rapper.
Only a few people corrected them in the comments, others though argued that Americans are all the people living on the American continent. There is not American continent, it's North America. Then Africans from all over the African continent insulted Black Americans, as if they'd never heard of Slavery.

The amount of people willing to insult this writer, when I tell them that these countries above are NOT called America, nor are their citizens called Americans is unreal. The name insulting comments about my intelligence are the worst. No, I'm not a teacher but I have read about this issue & figured out a few things.
How is the Americas with an S, America? Also again Central African Republic's citizens are Central African as nationality. It's also an area, when people say where are you from they say Central Africa, no one insults them.
A person from Chad is from Central Africa the area as well. Not insulted!
One person claimed that they're taught that America is one continent but broken into 3 parts. The 3 parts are North America, Central America and South America. They also while insulting me, claimed everyone living in these countries were called Americans.
Sadly people around the world are calling Americans stupid and entitled people because they use the term Americans and America. Which is the nationality given to Americans, what should we use instead?
Is this the same for Black Americans and Native Americans? Are we to assume their (I'm) stupid too?
Also there are 56 countries in Africa, no not all are recognized by the United Nations but that doesn't stop these countries from being real. That doesn't hinder these countries from existing, with real governments and land either.
The African Union only has 55 member nations, they refuse to allow Somaliland to be a part of the African Union. Also a country which is members of the African Union that the United Nations refuses to consider a country is SADR Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
The AU (African Union) considers them a country even though Morocco refuses to give them the 80% of their country which takes away the entire coastline.
Why can't Americans call their country America for short? There is no other country in the world named America or any continent. People seem to have learned geography all wrong and don't care to hear or read the correct explanation.
People from The Democratic Republic of Ghana can call their country Ghana. Therefore people from the United States of America, can say America.
