African forest elephants are the smallest of the two African elephant species. They live in the humid forests of West Africa and the Congo Basin.

African wild dogs are a species of wild canines native to sub-Saharan Africa.

Four-toed hedgehogs inhabit open areas of savannas and deserts. They are nocturnal and during the day take shelter in burrows. These animals feed on insects and spiders.

King colobus monkeys are native to West Africa. These primates are arboreal and live in groups of 3 to 4 females and 1 to 3 males with their offspring. They live in tropical mountain and lowland rainforests and feed on arboreal leaves, flowers, and fruit.

Northern bushbucks like to inhabit areas with wooded cover. They spend a lot of time on forest edges and in brushy areas near rivers and streams. They feed at night. These are great swimmers and can cross rivers.

Red-flanked duikers are a small species of antelope that are native to West and Central Africa. They feed on leaves, seeds, flowers, and fruit. These antelopes inhabit lightly wooded and savanna habitats. Mostly active right after dusk.

Roan antelopes are a species of antelope that are native to West, Central, and South Africa. They live in savannas of sub-Saharan Africa and are one of the largest species of antelopes in the world. These antelopes live in groups of 5 to 15 with a dominant male.

Rusty-spotted genets are small animals related to mongooses. They are nocturnal and solitary but will hunt or live in pairs. These are omnivores and dine on rodents. These mammals are semi-arboreal, meaning they spend much of their time in the trees and prefer to live in densely forested areas.

Striped ground squirrels are a species of squirrels native to Africa. They are solitary or live in pairs. These squirrels hide in burrows with a central nest. They do not climb trees and forage for food on the ground like seeds, roots, and nuts.

Tantalus monkeys are a medium-sized species of Old World monkeys native to West and Central Africa. They inhabit tropical areas but can adapt to forest grassland, riverside forest, and urban locations. These monkeys live in large troops of about 30.
Birds

Martial eagles are a large species of eagles native to sub-Saharan Africa. These birds are attracted to the thorny trees of the open savannas. They feed on mammals, reptiles, and birds.
Yellow-casqued hornbills (pictured above) are a species of hornbills native to the rainforests of the coastal regions of West Africa. Amazingly, among their main predators are crowned hawk eagles.
Aquatic Animals

African manatees are a species of manatees that are native to the western coastline and inland waterways of Africa. They are the only manatee species found in the Old World. They inhabit mangrove creeks and shallow coastal flats. These are herbivores and dine on mollusks, clams, and fish found in nets.

Green sea turtles are a large species of sea turtles that are native to subtropical and tropical seas around the world. They visit the beaches of Togo and migrate long distances between feeding grounds and hatching beaches.

Hippopotamuses are semi-aquatic. They are a large species of mammals native to sub-Saharan Africa. They live near mangrove swamps and rivers.

West African slender-snouted crocodiles are a species of crocodiles native to West and Central Africa. They are one of the five species of crocodiles on the continent. They use their slender snouts to catch fish.
