Hurtle and Hewis
'Hurtle and Hewis' is a children's book written by Dawn Ajarie-Vizor. This is a story of quite a pair of hedgehogs one that is obsessive and that is kind of a slob, but they are siblings and they have a plan to do on their vacation that one of won in a contest. They each learn a lot about each other. Dawn has written this story to show that siblings can find ways to get along and be able to work and have fun in many different situations. The illustrations were vivid and quite descriptive. This is also a story that has a lot of alliteration that helps with learning sounds of letters for young children.

Identity
'Identity' a novel written by Nora Roberts is a romance novel but to me is more a family story. In this story the main character of Morgan Albright, a woman who is living her life in a very good way and getting what she wants. She has a house, a job, a car and saving money in the bank. She also has a roommate by the name Nina Ramos. Something bad happens and Morgan has to move back home and start over. Nora Roberts is an author of many books but 'Identity' will have readers think a little bit more about personal saftey and just plain safety.

Fred Ferret
'Fred Ferret' is an animal story written by Elizabeth Swain and illustrated by Russell Martin and kind of asks the question 'How do you get to know a ferret? Fred is a ferret that likes himself and his family, but he wants something different. Fred learns a lot on something different to do. Elizabeth Swain has written this animal story that is quite human in many respects. She has written the conversations between the animals very convincingly and Martin's drawings that are pencil and charcoal sketches are another way the story gets told. This would make a good book for an elementary language arts or social living lesson on what makes a family or even a science lesson on animal environments.

'Bella A Mouse Tale' is telling and showing how a children's picture book can teach lessons in and of the real world and what friendship is about.

'Dragon's Gate' a historical novel for youth written by Laurence Yep. Otter travels to America to work with his father and uncle working on the Transcontinental Railroad. Otter learns many skills that are necessary as well as ideas that will affect his kind and his family socially, economically, educationally and even politically to a point when dealing with working conditions, weather, and a few other issues.
