Gregg Shorthand
Gregg Shorthand is a skill that is obsolete in the business world now but is still used in legal offices and by some journalists with their own style of writing. Gregg shorthand is a phonetic way of writing words and phrases using various symbols like lines and curves and dots. There are other forms of this subject like Pitman, Teeline and Alphahand. To me Gregg shorthand is easier to read and write, and I am planning on sharing lessons here on Vocal.com. I have tried to find some pictures of Gregg shorthand on Pexels.com and a few other image places but no luck. In my lessons that I am planning to share I will be writing words, phrases and letters from the textbooks that I had in high school back in the 80's by Leslie and Zoubek.

Timber, Growing Up to be a Seeing Eye Dog
Angela Brigenshaw has written a book entitled 'Timber Growing Up to be a Seeing Eye Dog'. Angela tells the story of Timber from puppyhood to a working seeing eye dog. She shares what it is like to be the owner of a soon-to-be 'seeing-eye dog' through the eyes of the puppy. Angela also writes Timber's story in a journal format and chose a typeface that makes it look like a handwritten journal. His journal describes all the skills that he needs to learn and stay safe.

a brief chapter in my impossible life
'a brief chapter in my impossible life' is a teen/youth novel written by Dana Reinhardt describing what a character named Simone, who was adopted and has many questions about herself and where she comes from. Simone finds out about her birth mother named Rivka who also has many 'items' she would like to share. This novel is full of emotion(s) and to me definitely a good book to share with friends and family that could and are dealing with all or some of the issues presented in this story. The cover art gives the reader an inkling to what the story holds with a girl on a beach looking back at a house that is special.

Dragon's Gate
'Dragon's Gate' a historical novel for youth written by Laurence Yep. This is the story of a boy named Otter, a Chinese who traveled from China to escape from an accident that is claimed as something else. Otter travels to America to work with his father and uncle working on the Transcontinental Railroad. Otter learns many skills that are necessary as well as ideas that will affect his kind and his family socially, economically, educationally and even politically to a point when dealing with working conditions, weather, and a few other issues. The cover art of the book shows bascically what the story will be about.
