Oppenheimer (2023, dir. Christopher Nolan)

Everybody sucked & the plot hinged on manufactured drama with RDJ’s character.
Oppenheimer knew what he was doing & I have no sympathy for his guilt. “I am become Death…” Hubris cannot simultaneously be punished & celebrated.
Nolan’s dialogue teased improvement; a rollercoaster nevertheless. 6.5/10, favoring spectacle & Cillian Murphy.

I critiqued this one as well 😁 It had great potential, but didn't quite land for me.
I am checking this movie off my to-do list. Thanks for the heads up.
The other day, I watched a video that said pretty much the same thing as you did. I have no desire to see the movie.
I considered going to this, mainly because of « The Wind that Shakes the Barley », my introduction to Cillian Murphy. He chooses interesting how-I-developed-into-a-bad-guy roles, with such an angelic face.
"Hubris cannot simultaneously be punished & celebrated." Perfect summary. Love a nuanced review!
Honest review. Haven't seen it. Still want to. Might tomorrow (we're going to The Little Apple of Manhattan, Kansas tomorrow after my doctor's appointment).
Nice😉👌
I still haven't watched this but this is the first time I'm seeing it not being celebrated! I loved these kinda reviews!
